Canada's electric bus market nearly doubled in 2025.
Battery-electric bus sales jumped 188%, but zero-emission MHDVs are still only ~1% of 47,676 registrations. Buses led with 392 of 471 ZE units (9.7% share).

BC fleets are all over the Canadian Clean Fleet Awards shortlist. 🏆 26 finalists run 51.4M all-electric km a year, including 129 Class 7–8 vehicles. BC names include R.R. Plett Trucking (Class 8 port drayage), Moving Mountains Logistics (1M+ parcels delivered electrically) and Global Container Terminals. Winners announced Nov 4.

Whistler is going electric again — this time with battery buses. 🚌⚡ BC Transit's first of 15 battery-electric buses has arrived, with 4 due by end of October and 11 more in spring 2027. They'll make up about half of Whistler's fleet, as part of a ~$424M, 125-vehicle program across eight BC systems (buses + charging + facilities).

For the first time in 15 years, a fully Canadian-built transit bus rolled off an assembly line — at New Flyer's Winnipeg facility, producing the Xcelsior CHARGE NG.

New Flyer's Winnipeg plant now supplies BC Transit's electric bus orders and a portion of the TTC's record 1,162-bus BEV order — the largest zero-emission bus fleet order in Canadian history.

BC's commercial ZEV rebates. CleanBC Go Electric relaunched August 10 with up to $130,000 per Class 5–8 zero-emission vehicle at point of sale. Non-profits, local governments, and Indigenous organizations can access up to $156,000 per unit with the 20% top-up.

Key change: a new pre-approval process lets fleets reserve funding before they purchase — no more racing to claim after delivery. \
With the federal iMHZEV program closed since March 31, this provincial program is now the primary incentive available for BC fleet electrification.
