Denali National Park is remote, yet accessible. A single 92-mile road cuts deep into its six million acres of wilderness, and guided excursions like the Tundra Wilderness Tour are among the few ways visitors can travel past the initial 15 miles, open to the public during summer and early fall, to explore its interior. Our Travel Designers, Andre and Caitlin, were recently among those visitors and took a tour deep into Denali.

Fall in Denali National Park & Preserve brings rich colors and wildlife experiences unique to the season. 🍂

It marks the annual moose rut, or mating season, offering a fantastic opportunity to catch sight of these animals. You can also spot plenty of bears roaming the park, busy foraging to fatten up ahead of winter.

Visiting after the Labor Day holiday brings an added perk: once the seasonal transit buses stop running, the park road opens to private vehicles all the way to the Teklanika River at mile 30, providing access for secluded autumn hiking.
