Tucked away in South Africa’s Waterberg region, Marataba is one of those places that feels completely removed from the rest of the world.

Set within a vast private reserve bordering Marakele National Park, it’s where dramatic mountains, open bush and water all come together, which means safari here isn’t only about game drives.

A sundowner here can be spent on the water, watching hippos surface and elephants wander down to drink as the sun disappears behind the mountains.
