If wildlife sightseeing is high on your list, timing your rail journey matters. Spring brings bears as hibernation ends, so they’re often spotted right from your train seat. September fills the rivers with spawning salmon, drawing bald eagles and, again, bears to the banks. By month's end, the elk rutting season begins.

Traveling onboard Canada’s trains, you'll share the rail corridor between Vancouver and Jasper, Banff, and Lake Louise with some remarkable locals.

In GoldLeaf Service, the upper seating level sits beneath a near-complete glass dome for unobstructed views of everything passing by.

Rocky Mountaineer’s classic journeys begin or end in Vancouver. From the coast, the train carries you east over two or three days, through dramatically shifting landscapes, to your destination of Lake Louise, Banff, or Jasper.
