Toronto is Canada's largest city and one of the country’s main travel hubs. But, it is much more than just a sleek urban skyline or a train stop on your itinerary.

Beyond the high-rises, you will find a patchwork of culturally diverse neighborhoods, local markets, and a lakefront that stretches for miles, all buzzing right now with FIFA World Cup 2026™ energy. So, even if you have already visited the CN Tower or wandered through downtown, the city will always have a new corner for you to explore.

Vancouver is a place where mountains and ocean meet, and where many of Canada's most beloved rail journeys begin (or end!).

From here, adventures fan out in every direction.

⛰️ To experience the mountains, ride the Sea-to-Sky Gondola above Howe Sound, or cross the Capilano Suspension Bridge in the coastal rainforest, adorned in FIFA World Cup 2026™ spirit as Vancouver hosts the matches.

✈️ In the city, walk the seawall connecting downtown, Stanley Park, and English Bay; or take a seaplane for a look at the city from above.

⛵ And for the ocean, cruise the harbor before exploring Granville Island's food scene (the maple-smoked salmon is not to be missed).

What if you could watch grizzlies in coastal forests and then spot elk, moose, and bighorn sheep from your train window, all on the same trip?

Our 'Grizzly Bears & the Canadian Rockies' itinerary does exactly that. It pairs a stay at Knight Inlet Lodge, one of British Columbia's best grizzly bear viewing destinations, with an overnight journey onboard VIA Rail through the Canadian Rockies, where wildlife comes to you alongside the tracks.

Our Travel Designers can bring these quintessentially Canadian experiences together in one trip. Save the itinerary here: https://ow.ly/yX9G50Z7j1S 🐻

If wildlife sightseeing is high on your list, timing your rail journey matters. Spring brings bears as hibernation ends, so they’re often spotted right from your train seat. September fills the rivers with spawning salmon, drawing bald eagles and, again, bears to the banks. By month's end, the elk rutting season begins.

But whenever you visit, you won't miss a thing. Your onboard Host will make sure of it with a “Moose on your left!” or “Bear on the right!" call 🐻

Traveling onboard Canada’s trains, you'll share the rail corridor between Vancouver and Jasper, Banff, and Lake Louise with some remarkable locals.

Bears, moose, elk, wolves, coyotes, bighorn sheep, and beavers all call this area home, and some of them are frequently spotted from the train. Look up too, as bald eagles and ospreys are known to soar above.

Rocky Mountaineer is a bucket-list trip for many. And rightfully so: few experiences rival viewing the Canadian Rockies through the train’s glass-domed windows.

In GoldLeaf Service, the upper seating level sits beneath a near-complete glass dome for unobstructed views of everything passing by.

And then there’s the round-the-clock service provided by the onboard Hosts. They do it all: serving seatside drinks and snacks, sharing the stories and history of the region, and announcing the occasional elk, bear, or eagle sighting along the tracks. 🦅
