Many people in wealthy nations around the world are so blessed to travel freely without restrictions of complicated visas to enter countries worldwide.

For Bolivians, visiting the La Paz airport immediately after their wedding as part of the couple's wedding procession is a local tradition that is especially popular among newlyweds from El Alto.

The tradition is symbolic rather than official. After the ceremony, the bride and groom, still dressed in their wedding attire, travel to El Alto International Airport to take photos and walk around the terminal. Many couples circle the terminal seven times, believing it will bring:

A happy and lasting marriage.
Good fortune and prosperity.
The opportunity to travel the world together

Some European airports now have these kiosks for Non EU passport holders to avoid long immigration lines in European airports. I found this kiosk in the Munich airport, so keep your eyes peeled in European airports as it may save you from waiting in long, long queues.

Our April Bolivia trip is out and our travellers are getting to experience something pretty culturally unique, a local women's wrestling match.

You always hear us say that we do our best to keep things authentic and away from the tourist scenes, and this is one of those encounters that keep our travellers wanting more and returning again and again. Not that we are promoting violence, but as you can see from our travellers in the back row, they're quite amused.

June is a fantastic time to explore Peru! The vibrant Inti Raymi Festival brings ancient Inca traditions to life in Cuzco, while the Andes are lush and green, perfect for hiking and exploring Machu Picchu.
The festival is on June 24th, and adding on a trek on the Lares or Inca trail are great additions.

Some places don’t shout for your attention… they quietly stay with you long after you’ve left. That’s Romania.

Rolling green hills that seem to go on forever. Dirt paths connecting villages where time slows down. Home-cooked meals shared around wooden tables. A warm welcome from people who are genuinely curious about you, not just used to tourists passing through.

Our days here are simple in the best way, hiking through pastoral landscapes, wandering into storybook towns, learning traditions that have been passed down for generations. It’s active, yes… but also deeply grounding.

There’s something about Romania that feels real. Unpolished. Honest. The kind of place that reminds you why you travel in the first place.

Our next departure is in August.

If you’ve been craving something meaningful, a little off the radar, and full of heart… this might be the one.

Undiscovered destinations are becoming increasingly rare, but this is one of them. These musicians are playing inside a family home. Any guesses where in the world this might be? One day, it would be incredible if BikeHike could run trips here.
