🚨 TRAVELLING TO MEXICO WITH KIDS? IMPORTANT UPDATE! 🌴☀️
Mexico has approved new legislation aimed at protecting children from trafficking and exploitation. This could mean stricter hotel check-in requirements for families travelling with children under 18.
The new rules would require hotels to verify the relationship between adults and the children travelling with them.
What should you bring?
To be prepared, I recommend keeping these documents in your carry-on:
✈️ Birth Certificate: A copy showing the child’s parents’ names.
✈️ Custody or Guardianship Documents: If applicable.
✈️ Parental Consent Letter: Consider a notarized letter if children are travelling with grandparents, relatives, friends, or only one parent.
When does this take effect?
The legislation is still awaiting official publication, and no enforcement date has been confirmed.
These are precautionary recommendations, not confirmed hotel requirements. We’re still waiting for clarification on exactly which documents will be accepted.
This will apply throughout Mexico, not just Cancun!
No need to worry, but a little extra preparation can help avoid surprises at check-in.
