Rec Board Meeting this Wednesday, July 8th at 7pm, Community Hall.

In addition to the usual housekeeping business of financials and approving meeting minutes, our agenda will include a Canada Day debriefing, Slowpitch and billboard updates, main beach dock, trails and skating surfaces, Octoberfest/Volunteer Appreciation event and a roundtable.

If you're interested in what Rec Board is doing, and especially if you are interested in being part of the action, we'd love to have you.

We are currently recruiting for a treasurer with some experience in bookkeeping and reporting to the authorities for grants and and the annual audit.

We have room for up to 3 more directors and 1 of those can live outside the village. We are short on masculine energy on the board and in the ranks.

We can always use more people with an interest in leading and coordinating projects and also those who just want a few shifts at events or as labourers throughout the year.

It's slow pitch night!

Wow, what a wonderful Canada Day we had yesterday! Pancake Breakfast - sold out. Parade - most entries we've ever had and people lining the route from one end to the other in droves. Market - lovely and including our youngest entrepreneurs so far with Lemonade Bros. Entertainment - spectacular. Crowds - beautiful people in huge numbers throughout the day. Fireworks - Manitou Springs Resort and Mineral Spa knocked it out of the park with 20 minutes non-stop. I estimated the crowd on the beach at about 500, and there probably another 500 on the festival site and around the village from various viewing perches.

My work day started at 8am and ended at 11pm, and I loved every minute.

Thank you team, community, sponsors and Mother Nature. First day without rain in quite some time!

Shout out to Canadian Heritage for sponsoring the music and fireworks, to Manitou Springs Resort and Mineral Spa for producing and sponsoring the firework show, and to Parrish & Heimbecker for the pancake batter.

For anyone wondering about our Canada Day plans....it looks like our dreaming for better weather is working! The latest forecast says that the rain is going to fizzle out by 9 and that we're gonna get some sun! Chance of thunderstorm between 3 and 5 -- probably because Jack Semple is on stage at 4pm and his talent is electric!

We've got a full and fantastic day coming up. Looking forward to see you soon.
