You rarely value what you have until it’s gone.

Over the past decade +, Todd Eberts and Niko Weis must have educated over 1000 snowmobilers to avalanche safety.

Niko trail blazed avalanche education for snowmobilers in the BC. His depth of knowledge and style of teaching has resonated with so many people. However, much of this wouldn’t have been possible without Todd.

Todd was Niko’s understudy and was essential to his program. Todd handled the logistical side, dealt with transportation and arranged a snowmobile for Niko to use, assisted with classes, rallied for support, and spent years volunteering his time for the benefit of the snowmobile community. People rarely hear about the contributions of others that work behind the scenes. It’s never easy. Todd had a big heart and he was genuinely passionate about avalanche safety.

Niko and Todd performed a valuable service to the snowmobile community, they helped to keep snowmobilers safe and out of the 6 o’clock news cycle.

The Yamaha Film Shoot.

A number of years back, invited Todd and I to participate in the Yamaha product shoot. It was a great experience. I had never ridden a 4 stroke or a turbo or a 4 stroke turbo before and I found myself seriously lacking in the confidence department but after watching Todd, and (double as a filmer/rider) kill it for 3 days, I started to figure them right as the shoot ended. Perfect timing!🤦‍♂️

That was a phenomenal opportunity that I know both Todd and myself really appreciated. I have high hopes for Yamaha in the future.

I think this day might have been one of my best memories of riding with Todd Eberts.

We were up one of the usual mountains and the weather was terrible, everybody else was long gone and we were literally the only people on the mountain. I definitely had thoughts to head down early but Todd insisted that the weather would break later in the day. I’m glad I listened, we had maybe 20 minutes of clear skies before the sun set and got to bang off a couple features.

The first pic is of Todd smashing a good size air on his 4 stroke turbo Yamaha. I was so impressed he hit this jump on that sled. To this day I’ve never acquired a taste for jumping turbos. It was pretty cool to see him step up as he did.

The second shot was my first real flight for the Alpha Cat. I find the balance point in these sleds to be very awkward and unpredictable, so I was scared 💩less hitting this jump full pin. Todd was good moral support, he definitely helped to get my head in the game.

The final shot is what I’d call Todd’s favourite drop, I have photos from at least 6 different occasions where he’s hit this line. I never liked it, I thought the landing was flat but it never seemed to bother him, he was a man of steel on an iron horse.

This day was truly magical, looking back at these pics has been a good reminder to never take these moments for granted and to appreciate the people that help to make them happen. Thanks Todd, this was definitely the best day of the season and I owe that to you.

There are several “batches” of memories of Todd Eberts.

I don’t remember the first time we met but over the course of a distant winter season we became good friends. As most of the snowmobilers in my circle retired and moved on in life, Todd became a solid riding partner. We undertook a number of missions, which back in the day put us with perhaps a handful of other people to be in those places with snowmobiles. I’ll revisit these missions in another post. Todd was my wingman and we supported each other on our missions.

Todd was a bit of a contradiction, on one hand he was wild AF and didn’t always make the best decisions, on the other he was probably the most dependable person I’ve ever ridden with. I was always blown away by how helpful he was when things got nasty, yet he was completely haywire at the same time. He was one of those people that could pull off both.

We were always on the hunt for cool features that pushed our riding. We often traded off the roll as cameraman. I certainly owe a good number of shots to him over the years.

Todd was generally positive and very supportive, he was a great riding partner and friend. I’m really miss our adventures together but I’ll never forget the times we had.

Rest In Peace Todd.

There will be a memorial ride for Todd Eberts on Saturday, May 7th, 10 am at Brandywine. Come pay your respects and share your memories.

I’ll be devoting this page to posting about the good times we shared for the next little bit. I have a lot of hard drives to go through but have already found a lot of photos dating back to 2013.

That’s as fast as she goes! Stoked to hit this hip gap one more time, definitely one of my all time favourites hits!

Who would have thought that April 6th would be the best day of the season?🤷‍♂️

So pumped on the Summit Expert and X2 Suspension. Such a deadly combo that makes dreams come true!

I accidentally deleted this post yesterday🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Wait for it!

The snow conditions were perhaps as bad as I’ve ever seen them in the backcountry - packed out and tracked out, but it didn’t stop us from making the best of the situation. Poor snow conditions force you to get creative with your line choice and it also underscores the value of good suspension. Had I been running stock shocks, I would only have been a spectator. The X2 Exit shocks keep you in the game!

I wouldn’t say that we found epic conditions today, but I would say that we made the most of it.

This is where having good suspension makes you participant where had I been running stock, I’d be an spectator. I love the X2 shocks by

First day with the jacket and pants! Great first impression, the jacket is the Mission shell made from Goretex, very similar to the Arc’teryx gear I’ve been using for years. I don’t expect there will be any surprises, it’s a high quality product that should last for years and fits great. The pants are the Recon Stretch Bibs, this is my first ever bib pant and I barely noticed the bib aspect which is great. The stretch fabric is awesome for mobility and I really like the cut a lot more than any pant I’ve previously used. They are a tighter more functional fit than my other pants which doesn’t obstruct mobility.

Who wouldn’t want to jump into a background like this?!? 🤷‍♂️🙋‍♂️

I’m loving the Summit Expert with X2 suspension! Deadly combo!

This past month has been rough. We haven’t had a substantial reset since early January so it’s relatively hard pack from weeks of thermal compaction. You can however find the occasional feature that lines up safely. I feel like we made the best of marginal snow conditions.

Who knows what’s in store for the rest of the season but after yesterday release, I’m already excited for next winter.

Great to be back in the air! It’s been another slow start to my “jumping” season. Oddly, this year is mirroring last year as this was the hit that got me amped to keep pushing. I’m back!

On a separate note, I’ve had a chance to try a number of different machines lately, granted some certainly impress in some way or another but the N/A 154 Summit Expert is still my favourite sled to date. It’s such an impressive machine; consistent, capable and playful, couldn’t be happier! Thank you and for delivering my dream sled!

We braved the arctic outflow and found a couple pockets of descent snow. The alpine has been predictably wind affected and trail ride up was hard on the hands and face, but definitely worth the mission.

The Summit Expert is fully built and running like a champ! Exit Shocks and Mission Control Series handlebars are my 2 must haves!

🎥:

Another little slice of heaven.

Looks like we’re into an arctic outflow until the new year…🥶

Can’t wait to get back on the Summit Expert! suspension has been installed, Mission Control Series handlebars are on, all ready for 2022!

12/21/2021

I’m loving every second on the Summit Expert. The 34” stance really improves the agility of the snowmobile. I’ll bet this update is included on most of the mountain sleds next season🤘

I’m loving the 34” ski stance on the 154 Summit Expert.

A massive thanks to and at for the help and support this season!

I’ve known Mike Skiba for 25 years now, he has exceeded the test of time as being one of the most solid and good-hearted people I’ve ever met throughout my years as a snowmobiler. Those values have carried through to his business as Greater Vancouver Powersports is an extremely impressive dealership. Every possible consideration is made for the benefit of the customer.

I’m also excited to see how the changes to the new Summit Expert are going to improve the capability of an already very capable snowmobile!

Cheers to an awesome season! I couldn’t be more stoked!

10/27/2021

Sometimes you really have to try hard to get results. Hitting this hip gap as fast as the sled could go definitely had my nerves on edge, the way the sled responds on the face of whip jumps can be unpredictable. There are a lot factors at play aside from commitment and muscle memory. I’ve been really fortunate to have had as a partner for quite some time now. Their suspension behaves in a manner that inspires confidence, this really helps with commitment. Another game-changer has been the Mission Control Series handlebars by as they position your body for strength which leads to success. These products are deadly additions for your sled. If you’re going to spend the money to sled, you might as well set yourself up for success.
