Meet our newest additions. He walked into our yard 10 days ago and nobody seems to be missing him. He is now registered at our Vet and we decided to name him PB for Pretty Boy. He was very weak when he arrived and a check at the Vet confirmed that he has no muscle mass left, and is underweight. He also has an enlarged prostate, which is not uncommon for older males that are intact.
He has a neuter appointment for Aug 20th, but first he has to build up some muscle and put on some weight, otherwise the vet is not comfortable doing surgery.
He is heading in the right direction. Today he walked for the first time all the way to the river. He was 46lbs when he got here, today he weighed in a 52lbs. So proud of this old man.

It does not happen very often that I get to be part of leading a trip, usually it is Little One and Jeff or one of our guides. But when the opportunity comes along I am all up for it. David from Australia, his second visit, Jo and Paul, I lost count how many times they already visited ;) , and Andrew to get some pictures. Kaisa and myself as guides and Zazu. 2 nights along the Takhini River, wind, rain and beautiful sunny times, we had a bit of all and it was absolutely fantastic.
I baked my first cake on the trail, which was probably one of my personal highlights 😍
Here are some pictures from my cell phone. We will have to wait a bit for the professional ones🙂

Stompin and Munch, our two crazy brothers loving their retirement. Turning 12 in September they still have a lot of s***k in them.

Lanuk had a sudden onset of glaucoma in his left eye just over a month ago.
He was treated with eye drops to control the pressure in his eye and to keep him pain free. Unfortunately the drops no longer did their job. There are only two option to have him pain free again. Euthanize or take the eye out.
Even though Lanuk will be 14 in October there was never a doubt in our mind that we would remove the eye. He had his surgery 2 days ago and he is doing great. His happy, unbothered usual self on the lookout for a treat.
Still amazes us on how resilient they are.

First overnight canoe trip is in the books. And what better welcome committee than this gang. Skipper, Edward, Elfin, Hazel, Zazu and Kate putting on a show and welcoming their queen Little One 🤣😍🥰
This is a beautiful 3 night paddle on the Takhini River, finished right behind out lodge. Not to late to join, we have two more trips confirmed that still have some spots. . One July 30 and one September 9.

Our Rhubarb plants loved this cool spring we had so far, and I finally got around to make the first pie of the season. Lucky me even had left over slice for breakfast. In my opinion there is no better way to start the day. And if course a nice hot cup of tea :)

A legend has moved on. Homer was literally one of a kind in more ways then one.
Not being a husky he showed us that looking different does not mean you can't do the job. We always joked that he was born into the wrong body. He loved to be a sled dog, and he was the best leader in the world.
No having a proper winter coat, he spent many winter nights in the cabin and snuggled up with many different people from visitors to staff. He had his private room in our cabin.
Very grateful that we got to spend some extra time with you after you diagnoses.
We will miss you so much. ❤❤❤
