Yukon's Wind River in the Peel watershed is an amazing river to paddle by canoe. We spent almost two weeks in this amazing area to scout for upcoming guided trips. Wow! A trip of a lifetime!

The excitement is building! For years I have been using some of the the excellent knives made by jars_messer, a family-owned knife maker in Germany. I first met Sergej at the Bushcraft Jamboree in Germany in 2019 and over the years our connection has deepened. Last May at the Jamboree he asked for my input for a new knife design.
Sketches were drawn, 3D models printed and we finally came up with a design we both love. In about 6 months we will launch a Bushcraft Yukon knife model made by jars_messer!

Just back from an amazing 9-day canoe trip on Teslin and Yukon Rivers. I had a chance to glance over some of the wildlife shots I was able to take with the new (to me) Nikon 200-500mm lens. Those are my favourites:

I had a fantastic time teaching Campfire Cooking & Baking, Northern Bushcraft Skills and Backcountry Safety & Survival courses at the amazing Vista Outdoor Learning Centre last weekend! Such a fun group of amazing women eager to learn more about living outdoors. Teaching outdoor skills also always creates an opportunity to learn new things myself or changing perspective! I really appreciate the thoughtful input given at those workshops. Already looking forward to next year!!! See you out there!

And the German "Bushcraft Jamboree 2026" is officially a wrap! A wonderful three day weekend in Herbstein with an array of workshops, presentations and sales booths around bushcraft and survival concluded. Hundreds of visitors came to together to learn and share knowledge ans skills. To represent Bushcraft Yukon I offered a presentation on Yukon wilderness adventures, a whittling tutorial with Pero Moeller, a survival 101 workshop, and a demo on survival trapping. Great fun! Thanks to everyone for the rich experience!

Fun times at the Danish Outdoor Festival!!! I visited our friends from Bushcraft Europe and joined their amazing team for presentations and workshops. An estimated 10-15k visitors made it through the gates to connect with outfitters, educational programs, travel destinations and equipment manufacturers/distributors. Cold mornings, busy days and "hygge" around cozy campfires in the evenings. The highlight? We have welcomed many wonderful guests from Denmark to the Yukon over the years. Many showed up at the booth to say 'hi' and reconnect. Thanks folks, for the warm welcome to beautiful Denmark!

The Yukon Fish & Game Association (YFGA) is inviting to the inaugural 2026 Outdoor Expo in Whitehorse on May 2 at the Canada Games Centre in Whitehorse!
We are not able to be there in person, but will have a little booth/display set up. Swing by and check it out!

Bushcraft Yukon goes Europe!!! This spring we will make our way over to Denmark and Germany to visit two amazing events.

First we will represent the Yukon at the Danish Outdoor Festival and join our friends from Bushcraft Europe! Visit us at the Bushcraft Europe booth on Apr 24-26, 2026!

The Dena Cho Trail connects the Yukon communities of Faro and Ross River. What a little gem! We had a great time exploring this 67 km hiking trail on ski! What's not to like? A well marked and maintained trail, cozy cabins, spectacular views of the Pelly river and the surrounding mountains! Well...and a few pretty frickin' steep ups and downs in between. Yes, there was swearing...and there were very not so graceful downhill ski attempts on my part...including proper face plants! Still...we had a good time!
