Do you have a passion for food, culture, and sharing stories through traditional cuisine?

Wikwemikong Tours is seeking a Culinary Experience Lead to help bring authentic Anishinaabe culinary experiences to life on beautiful Manitoulin Island.

✨ No formal chef experience? No problem!
Training will be provided alongside a professional chef, making this a great opportunity for those looking to grow their culinary skills while deepening their cultural knowledge.

What you'll do:
🌿 Help prepare pre colonial food experiences
🔥 Share Anishinaabe food knowledge and stories
🍽️ Create meaningful land-based culinary experiences
🤝 Connect visitors to culture through food

Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day!

Today, as people gather across this nation, we honour and acknowledge the many Indigenous Nations who have walked these lands since time immemorial.

On Odawa Mnis (Manitoulin Island), we celebrate the Three Fires Confederacy—an enduring alliance of the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations. This day is an opportunity to walk together in a spirit of respect and reconciliation; to celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples; to share in culture and traditions; and to listen to the languages that are deeply rooted in the lands on which we live.

It is also a time to reflect on and honour the Treaty relationships that continue to shape this country.

Today, and every day, let us celebrate the rich diversity, histories, cultures, and achievements of the many Indigenous Nations that call Canada home.

Bebamikawe Memorial Trail Update!

As many of you know, this winter was unusually harsh and caused significant damage throughout the trail system. Our crews have been working hard to clear deadfall, repair erosion, and restore safe access for visitors.

Current Trail Status:

🟥 Warriors Trail (Red Loop)
✅ Fully open! The entire loop is accessible, with only minor maintenance work remaining.

🌲 Fitness Trail
✅ Open

🔥 Three Fires Trail
⚠️ Partially closed from Cape Smith Lookout. Maintenance crews are actively removing deadfall and repairing washed-out sections.

We expect all trails to be fully open by Canada Day.

Trail permits can be purchased online at www.wikytours.com or in person at our gift shop.

Thank you for your patience and support as we continue restoring the trails. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to a fully open trail system soon!

🪶 A friendly reminder that the Kaboni Traditional Pow-Wow is taking place this weekend at Thunderbird Park, Wikwemikong.

This year’s theme, “Esnaa We’eni Naagdawendisdaa” — “Let’s Take Good Care of Our Well-Being” reminds us of the importance of coming together as a community, connecting with one another, and celebrating our culture.

We invite everyone to join us and share this invitation with your family and friends. All are welcome to enjoy a weekend of dancing, singing, vendors & food trucks, community, and connection. Come celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day.

• Work on historic sites and visitor areas
• Support community beautification projects
• Take part in industry recognized training
