Spotted: On Monday, December 14th, I was traveling to Windsor on Highway 3 around 11:05 a.m., just after it had finished snowing. A van suddenly pulled onto the shoulder, causing the SUV in front of me to slam on its brakes. I braked hard as well, and the car behind me did the same, but unfortunately didn’t stop in time and rear-ended me. That vehicle then veered sharply to the right and went into the ditch.

I pulled over immediately, and as I got out of my car, I noticed a black BMW pull over as well. The driver jumped out, ran straight into the snowy ditch, and headed for the smoking vehicle. Without hesitation, he pulled the woman from the car, which we feared could catch fire, and helped her out of the ditch to safety.

Once she was safe, he came over to check on me. He stayed at the scene, continuing to make sure we were okay, until police were close to arriving. Both the woman and I told him he had done more than enough and that it was okay for him to continue on with his day. We thanked him many times.

Through all the chaos, I did manage to get his name, and I hope he doesn’t mind me sharing it publicly.
Ivan Martin, thank you again. I don’t know many people who would do what you did, and certainly not to the extent you did. You deserve a tremendous amount of recognition and praise.

If this post finds you: I am okay, and the woman who was taken to the hospital is also okay (as of the last update I received). I truly hope good things come your way, you absolutely deserve it.

Spotted: A moment of kindness that deserves recognition 💙

I work in retail, and unfortunately shoplifting is something we deal with often. On this particular day, I had to call WPS regarding a customer who had just left the store after stealing. An officer arrived and asked to review our surveillance footage to help identify the individual. While we were waiting, another unit had already located the person and was bringing him back to the store to pay for the items.

As all of this was happening, I was ringing through the cutest little girl, around 7 or 8 years old. She proudly told me she had worked hard with her dad to earn $10. When I finished scanning her items, the total came to $12.10. I couldn’t bring myself to tell her she didn’t have enough, so I asked her for her $10 and planned to cover the difference myself.

The officer nearby noticed what was going on and quietly stepped in, paying the remainder for her. The family was incredibly grateful, and the little girl thanked him and gave him the biggest hug.

I don’t think police officers get enough credit for what they do, and we don’t often hear about the positive moments of community outreach and kindness. Such a small gesture from this officer made a big impact on me, and I’m sure it’s something that little girl will remember for years to come.

Spotted : Sunday, Dec 7th at the Starbucks Drive-Thru at
Tecumseh and MaDougall the car in front of me paid for my order. The cashier told me "The young lady in front of you said 'Thank you for your patience.' and bought your drink."

To the young lady who did this - yes, your order did take a little longer than usual. That's ok. What you didn't know is that I was bringing the drink you bought to an 18 year old who is currently at Met Hospital getting chemo for leukemia.

I hope you see this. Not only did I get to deliver a peppermint hot chocolate - I got to share that it was from the kindness of a stranger. Your simple gesture warmed some hearts today. Thank you.

Spotted: October 24

I was at my first appointment a year after having my son and hadn’t realized my health card had expired (rookie mistake, I know). The appointment was going to cost $60 without it, and the office only accepted cash. Unfortunately, I only had my debit card and was told we’d need to reschedule. This appointment was time sensitive, and rescheduling would’ve caused serious problems.

That’s when I heard a voice behind me say, “Don’t worry, I’ve got you.” She placed $60 on the counter for me. I was incredibly grateful and offered many times to e-transfer her, but she wouldn’t accept it. So Mandy, whoever you are, wherever you are, thank you. You truly saved my day, and I’ll carry this moment with me for a long time.

It’s moments like this that remind me there’s still good in the world.

Spotted : I was out for a walk this morning(Sept 28th) along the river and stopped at a park bench to take a seat. I found myself just staring across the river, daydreaming and thinking about my mom and how much I miss her(I lost her 8 months ago). Not sure what made me look so approachable, but an older gentleman came and sat down beside me and asked how I was doing.

We talked for a little while about the weather, how peaceful it is to get out early in the morning, and how much he enjoys walking by the river. I told him I liked it too. It was just a simple, friendly conversation, but it helped me more than he probably realizes.

I’m sharing this because it reminded me that small conversations can have a big impact. Maybe if we all take a moment to be a little more friendly, we can make someone’s day without even realizing it.

Thank you, John

💚 Compassion in Action at Lauzon Food Basics

Spotted: On Wednesday at Food Basics Lauzon, a young employee named Jude was seen pushing carts when an elderly woman accidentally crashed her car and appeared visibly shaken. Without hesitation, Jude stepped in to comfort her, staying calm and reassuring while waiting for store management to arrive. His kindness and quick thinking made a difficult moment much easier for someone in distress.

There’s so much hope in the next generation—Jude, you’re a shining example. Hats off to you and to Food Basics for fostering such empathy and care in your team. 👏

Spotted: A True Act of Kindness on EC Row

Yesterday, while driving eastbound on EC Row, my vehicle broke down in the left turn lane heading into Manning. Thankfully, I was able to coast into the turn lane before it completely gave out—my alternator failed, taking the battery with it.

To the woman who shouted at me to turn on my hazard lights: they were on, but unfortunately died along with the battery. And to those who responded with rude gestures—please remember, no one chooses to break down in traffic. That kind of reaction was unnecessary.

As I sat there calmly trying to figure out what to do next—especially with my mom in the car, who had just suffered a stroke last week and needed to get home safely—a man in the adjacent turn lane asked if I was okay. He offered a few suggestions, but nothing worked. The light turned green and he drove off.

Five minutes later, I saw that same man crossing the expressway on foot, carrying a car battery. He popped open my hood and, incredibly, had removed the battery from his own vehicle to help jump-start mine. I was able to follow him back to his car to return the battery, and wait safely for a tow truck in a nearby parking lot.

I believe his name was Ameal. He said he works as a cook at Windsor Palace, next to Boston Pizza and Bulk Barn. This man deserves recognition for his quick thinking, generosity, and kind heart.

If you happen to read this, Ameal—thank you. I am forever grateful. You reminded me that kindness still exists.

Spotted : To the two angels who noticed a fire in my yard while driving to work, stopped, called for help, and then pounded at our door until we were awake and were able to get the kids and dog out safely, you'll never know what you mean to us. I'll never forget you and I thank you for possibly saving my family.
If you hadn't called for help when you did while we were all fast asleep, I don't even want to think of the devastation we could be facing right now. I wish I had your contact info. to offer a proper thank you and hope that somehow you see this.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Our Accident Angel

Spotted : Earlier today at around 1pm, my Fiance and I got into an accident on Provincial infront of Leons. One young woman witnessed it and ran to check on everyone. Thankfully, no one was badly injured, however, I did get some solid whiplash and was feeling it. This girl stood with me the entire time holding my hand and making me laugh, and ultimately calming me down. We just want to thank her. She made such a rough situation so much more bearable. We want her to know how appreciated her presence was today and how grateful we are.
