Only one expression truly captures how it feels to work at Winnipeg Waterways: Yeehaw.

Our crew has been having a great time during this early heatwave! The city’s greenery has really popped in the last week. We’re offering regular departures from noon to 8pm everyday.

We also offer special rates for School groups! If you want to bring your students on the water, follow our link in our bio to find our offers. We can host groups of any size by running multiple boats.

Stay tuned for more crew, more offers, and new stuff! See you at the docks.

If you’re looking for the Winnipeg Waterways sales kiosk, you can find us at the top of the stairs that lead down to the port. You can’t miss us.

Over the winter our hosts, renovated our space! We’ve been getting to know the new space and it’s very comfy. Thank you!

We are now open for the season. Our classic 35 minute scenic tours are available from 12-8 everyday. The water bus service is not running yet. The water on the Assiniboine is very turbulent right now. In fact, the current speed is in the top 5% of recorded speeds for the past 80 years!

Come enjoy the spring waters.

WW news for opening day 2026. Read on!

Howdy, we’re Will and Griffin, and we started Winnipeg Waterways in 2024 with a simple idea: get people out on the rivers and help them see Winnipeg from a whole new angle. We’re proud to operate from the historic Forks Port and even prouder to share these waterways with both locals and visitors. Winnipeg is our hometown, and the rivers here tell the story of the city and so much of Canada’s history. There’s something special about being out on the water, and we love to share it with you.
This past April, we were incredibly honoured to be nominated for a Tourism Award. It was exciting to attend a gala in the company of the best Manitoba has to offer. It was thrilling to see friends and colleagues being nominated and receiving awards. But the best part was when we won for Business of the Year! As a new local company, that recognition means a lot to us. It was an amazing surprise to hear our name called and walk up to meet the presenters and receive the award. Thank you all of the people who have supported and partnered with us since we made our first waves. Our Staff, our guests, local tourism organizations, and our home: The Forks.

A huge congratulations to The Forks for receiving the Social Impact award for their Target Zero Eliminates Waste program. They continue to be a leader in this space and it’s amazing to see what they’ve accomplished over the years and especially in 2025.

We are happy to report that water levels in the Red River have been lowering steadily since late April. We will be at operating levels very, very soon. Pair that with rising temperatures and you got yourself a recipe for boat rides!

We are officially setting sail for the May long weekend.
Open 12-8pm, May 16, 17, and 18. Closed on the 19th. Starting May 20th we will be open every day for the rest of the season! Come on down and celebrate spring with us. See you at the docks.

You might have noticed the water level is mighty high right now. It’s pretty normal. Our local water levels are influenced by a wide geographic area. Conditions depend on local precipitation, but also on upstream flows from the south along the Red River and from the west along the Assiniboine. As a result, water levels can rise or fall based on weather and runoff occurring far beyond Winnipeg itself. We use data from those regions, and local events to try and triangulate a prediction, but it’s slippery.

As of the current reports, there’s still a moderate flood risk along the Red River, but major flooding in Winnipeg isn’t expected. The Floodway is in operation, and the Portage Diversion is being used to reduce ice jam risk.

The river crested this week, so levels are at, or near their peak now. Some low areas like the Forks river walk may stay underwater for a while, but widespread flooding isn’t likely.

If there’s no heavy spring rain, water levels should start dropping over the next couple of weeks. Weather forecasts are calling for pattern of passing light showers over the next 2 weeks.

We will be watching!

I love this short vid for a bunch of reasons. First I’m just loving the sunshine. And the kids are so sweet and excited to ride! It was early in our first season in 2024.

Now we’re entering our third year in operation and there so much fun stuff we’re looking forward to announcing. New tours, new boat, and the return of the beloved Water Bus!

We’re now booking for school groups. If you want to bring your students to see Winnipeg by water, drop us a line or check out the school page on our website!

Opening weekend is projected to be May 16, the long weekend. But it’s all about that sunshine and low water levels. Think sunny thoughts 🌞

Winnipeg Waterways is looking for some salty sea dogs to captain the ships and run tours.

We have a couple more sleeps before the river opens up for us. But we are keenly focused on our 2026 sailing season! We are looking to add a couple of part time boat drivers to our already accomplished crew.

If you like the sound of getting on the water and talking all about Winnipeg, this job may be for you! Experience driving a boat and public speaking is an asset. All boat captains will require the SVOP certification. If you have it you’re at the front of the line. However we can arrange training for the right candidate!

Part time, July to September. Multiple positions available.

Yep it’s true. We have a hard stop on October 13th. The river water begins dropping fast! These are the last days we’re working this summer (fall 🥴)

We’re closed during the week, but we’re already booking for this weekend! Reserve your spot online. Link in bio. 🫡

It’s also your last chance for merch. We’re putting it all on sale. 30% off all shirts, ball caps, and sweaters! 🍂🍃🍁
