People often ask if I’m more of a candid/documentary photographer or a posed/portrait photographer.

The truth is, you probably want both🤓 Candid photos pull you straight back into the noise, the hugs, the bad dance moves and the tiny in‑between moments you didn’t even see happen.

Portraits give you those big, intentional images you’ll print huge and walk past every day.

My job is to know when to step back and let things unfold, and when to step in with simple direction and great light. You don’t have to decide a “style” or figure out poses in advance—that’s on me.

Many of my couples tell me they’re awkward in front of the camera or straight‑up hate having their photo taken.

The good news is you don’t have to perform for me – I work quietly most of the day, then step in with simple direction when it actually helps🥸

Over the whole process we build a lot of trust, so by the time the day comes it feels more like hanging out with someone you know than posing for a stranger🥰

The goal is photos that feel like you, not like a version of you acting for the lens🤓

Throwback to last spring with Tehya & Avery out at Half Moon, hanging around one of their favourite old family trucks.
 Tehya literally had to fix it herself just to get it home, which tells you everything you need to know about her.

Can’t wait for the snow to melt and get back to days like this again – and I’m especially excited to share their wedding soon.

After 15 years of photographing weddings, this is the one thing I know for sure: your wedding day is not a photoshoot.

It’s a loud, emotional, slightly chaotic day with your favourite people, and I’d rather you live it fully than worry about how you look for the camera. My job is to be in the background, noticing the real stuff and turning it into photographs that still feel like your day years from now.

It’s not too late for 2016 right🤷‍♂️🤣🤷‍♂️ What a different time, that feels so so long ago, but also feels like yesterday sometimes🤓🥹🤓

But still, and always… I am forever grateful to all my couples and families who want me there to capture the moments❤️ here’s to back then and 10 years later and beyond🤓🥳🤓

Holy crap😜 I decided to drop posting during the busy times (still going🤣) to ensure my couples get the best of me, and I don’t mind at all🤣
