🦒🦓🦏 BREAKFAST WITH GIRAFFES, RHINOS UP CLOSE, AND A GAME OF HIDE-AND-SEEK WITH THE BIG CATS… JUST ANOTHER DAY IN AFRICA! 🇰🇪❤️

Just when we thought yesterday couldn’t possibly be topped… AFRICA SAID, “HOLD MY BEER!” 😂

Today was one of those days that words and photographs will NEVER be able to do justice to. The kind of day that takes your breath away, brings tears to your eyes, and reminds you just how incredible this big, beautiful world really is. ❤️

🌅 BREAKFAST WITH A VIEW… AND NOT JUST ANY VIEW!

Imagine sitting down to breakfast in the middle of an African wildlife reserve, surrounded by giraffes and zebras roaming freely in their natural habitat. 🦒🦓

No zoo. No staged experience. Just US, our breakfast, and some of the most magnificent creatures on the planet going about their morning.

We were literally sharing breakfast with the wildlife of Africa!

To be THAT close, watching giraffes gracefully wander by and zebras grazing all around us, was something I don’t think any of us will ever forget.

There were moments of complete silence, moments of laughter, and moments where all you could do was sit there in absolute awe.

It wasn’t just breakfast. It was a moment in time that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. ❤️

And THAT, my friends, is why we travel. 🌍

🦏 THEN CAME THE RHINOS!!

HOLY. MOLY. 😍

Today we got UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL with these absolutely magnificent animals! To see the sheer size, strength, and beauty of a rhino in the wild is almost impossible to describe.

Pictures simply don’t capture how powerful and extraordinary these creatures are.

And the ZEBRAS?! 🦓🦓🦓

Zebras here, zebras there, zebras EVERYWHERE! Honestly, I don’t think we could have counted them all if we tried!

🐆 NOW… ABOUT THOSE BIG CATS!

Well, apparently the lions, leopards, and cheetahs didn’t get the memo that 21 Canadian women had travelled halfway around the world to see them! 😂

The cats won today’s game of hide-and-seek!

But that’s the beauty of a REAL African safari. These animals are wild, free, and living life on THEIR terms. There are no guarantees, and that makes every single sighting that much more special.

Don’t worry, ladies… we’re not giving up on those cats just yet! 👀🐆🦁

🌿 AND THEN… OUR FIRST AFRICAN WALK!

As if the morning hadn’t already filled our hearts enough, we experienced our first beautiful walk surrounded by the sights, sounds, and incredible landscapes of Kenya.

There is something so peaceful, so humbling, and so incredibly moving about being here. The fresh air, the wide-open spaces, the sounds of nature, and the realization that WE ARE ACTUALLY IN AFRICA!

Sometimes you have to remind yourself that this isn’t a documentary on television.

WE ARE LIVING IT. ❤️

I have planned a lot of trips in my career, but watching these ladies experience moments like today is something that fills my heart in ways I can’t even explain.

The smiles. The laughter. The tears. The friendships. The absolute wonder on everyone’s faces.

This is so much more than a vacation.

It’s the kind of experience that changes a little piece of you forever. 🌍❤️

And the craziest part?

WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED!! 🦒🦏🦓

🦏🌍 HOLY RHINO… AFRICA, ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?! 🇰🇪❤️

DAY ONE ON SAFARI… AND I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW WE’RE GOING TO TOP THIS! 🥹

Today, our Vacations Yorkton ladies headed off to Nyeri, in Kenya’s beautiful Laikipia region, where our African safari adventure REALLY began!

After lunch, we set out on our very first GAME DRIVE at the incredible Solio Game Reserve, one of East Africa’s most successful rhino breeding sanctuaries.

And OH. MY. GOODNESS. 😭❤️

I don’t even know how to put today into words.

Solio is home to over 200 black and white rhinos, and seeing these magnificent animals roaming freely in their natural habitat was something I will NEVER forget.

The tears flowed. The cameras clicked. The jaws dropped. And I’m pretty sure we all said “OH MY GOD, LOOK AT THAT!” about 400 times! 😂❤️

And the wildlife?! UNBELIEVABLE!

🦏 Magnificent white rhinos
🦒 Beautiful, graceful giraffes
🦓 Zebras wandering the plains
🐃 African buffalo
🦌 Impalas and gazelles
🐒 Mischievous vervet monkeys
🐾 Wildebeest and jackals
🦅 Incredible secretary birds
🐦 And more beautiful birds than I could possibly name!

Everywhere we looked, there was something else to see. Just when we thought it couldn’t possibly get any better… IT DID!

But here’s the thing. It’s not just about seeing these animals. It’s about the feeling you get when you’re sitting in that safari vehicle, surrounded by the African wilderness, watching these incredible creatures simply EXIST in their world.

No zoo. Just nature doing what nature does best. ❤️

There were moments of complete silence, moments of pure excitement, and yes… LOTS OF HAPPY TEARS. 🥹

And sharing these moments with this amazing group of women makes it even more special. The laughter, the friendships, the excitement, the emotions… THIS is why I love what I do.

AND PEOPLE… THIS WAS ONLY OUR FIRST GAME DRIVE!!! 🤯🦏

If today was just the beginning, I honestly cannot imagine what the rest of this adventure has in store for us!

Africa, you are wild, beautiful, emotional, breathtaking and absolutely MAGICAL.

My heart is so full, and our adventure is just getting started! ❤️🌍

🇰🇪 KENYA, YOU HAVE ALREADY STOLEN OUR HEARTS! ❤️🦒

Day 2 in Nairobi with the Vacations Yorkton Ladies Safari Group, and WOW… where do I even begin?!

Today was one of those days that reminds me exactly why I love travelling so much. It wasn’t just about seeing beautiful places. It was about meeting beautiful people, learning their stories, experiencing a different culture and having moments that will stay with us forever.

Our first stop was Kobe Tough Beads & Leather, and what an incredible experience!

This amazing organization provides employment and opportunities for Kenyan women, including single mothers, widows and women from Maasai communities. Through their beautiful handmade ceramic beads, jewellery and intricate leatherwork, these talented women are able to earn an income and support their families.

We watched the fascinating process of transforming raw clay into beautiful beads, all shaped, painted, glazed and finished by hand. We also learned about their partnership with Maasai women, who create intricate traditional beadwork on leather products. And the really exciting part? We will be visiting a Maasai village later this week!

But what truly got me was when these incredible women gathered together and performed a traditional song for us. ❤️

Their voices, their smiles, their pride and their joy were absolutely beautiful. It was one of those moments when you don’t need to understand every word to understand the emotion behind it. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.

THIS is what travel is all about.

Next, we made our way to a local craft market, where we had the opportunity to admire and shop for beautiful Kenyan handicrafts, souvenirs and artwork. So much colour, creativity and talent! And yes, I suspect a few suitcases might be coming home a little heavier. 😂

AND THEN… THE GIRAFFES! 🦒🦒🦒

Oh. My. Goodness.

We visited the famous Giraffe Centre in Nairobi, where we had the unbelievable opportunity to get up close and personal with endangered Rothschild’s giraffes!

We learned about these magnificent animals, the conservation efforts helping protect them and why this centre plays such an important role in their future.

And then WE GOT TO FEED THEM!

Standing face-to-face with these gentle giants, looking into those enormous beautiful eyes and feeling them take food right from our hands was absolutely surreal.

Pictures don’t do it justice. Videos don’t do it justice. You truly have to experience it to understand.

There were squeals, laughter, huge smiles and, yes, more than a few tears. ❤️

It was an out-of-body experience for some of us. One of those moments when you realize you’re standing in Africa, feeding a giraffe, surrounded by an amazing group of women, and you think…

HOW LUCKY ARE WE TO BE HERE?!

Our final stop was the Karen Blixen Museum, the former home of Danish author Karen Blixen, whose memoir Out of Africa inspired the famous movie.

We stepped back in time and learned about her life in Kenya, the history of her coffee farm and the stories behind this remarkable property. Such an interesting glimpse into another chapter of Kenya’s history.

And just like that, another incredible day came to an end.

I have spent 18 months planning and dreaming about this adventure, and we’re only getting started. Watching these ladies experience these moments, seeing the friendships, hearing the laughter and sharing a few happy tears makes every single minute of planning worth it.

AND TOMORROW… WE ARE OFFICIALLY OFF ON SAFARI! 🐘🦁🦓🐆

The jeeps, the wildlife, the landscapes, the early mornings and everything we’ve been dreaming about are finally about to become reality!

I honestly don’t know how we’re going to top today, but something tells me Kenya has a whole lot more magic waiting for us.

🌍🦁 JAMBO FROM KENYA, AFRICA! 🇰🇪🐘

WE MADE IT!!! AFRICA, BABY!!! 🥳✈️

After 18 months of planning, dreaming, emails, Zoom meetings, organizing, reorganizing (and probably a few grey hairs on my part 🤣), the Vacations Yorkton Ladies Safari Adventure is officially UNDERWAY!

And let me tell you… it feels pretty darn amazing to finally be HERE! ❤️

We’ve landed in Nairobi, Kenya, checked into the beautiful Tamarind Tree Hotel, and today we hit the ground running with our first adventure — a guided walking tour of Nairobi! 🇰🇪

We spent the afternoon exploring the city, taking in the sights, learning about the local culture and getting our first real taste of life in Kenya!

The sights, the sounds, the people, the energy… it’s all so different from home, and that’s exactly why we travel! 🌍

And can we just talk about the fact that we are actually in AFRICA?! Somebody pinch me! 🤣

The best part? We’re just getting started!

We’ve got more ladies joining us, more adventures ahead, and soon we’ll be trading city streets for safari jeeps, breathtaking landscapes and hopefully some up-close-and-personal encounters with Africa’s incredible wildlife! 🦒🦓🐘🦁

21 ladies. One incredible adventure. A whole lot of laughs. And memories we’re going to be talking about for YEARS! ❤️

I’m so incredibly grateful to have this amazing group of women along for the ride. Some are old friends, some are new friends, and by the time we’re finished, I’m pretty sure we’ll all have a few stories that can’t be repeated! 🤣🍷

So buckle up, everyone, because I’m taking you along for the ride!
