Gorillas are identified by their nose prints, so each gorilla has a unique nose prints, like humans have unique thumb prints. Here on the Kabirizi family t-shirt are all the nose prints of Kabirizi and his family.

Today Emmanuel and Alexi have started their climb to summit Mt Margarita in the Rwenzoris. They are doing this in support of all African rangers as part of the Wildlife Ranger Challenge. The trek will take 10 days and 42 Kms. They will be ascending 3919m to finally summit at 5119m. Mt Margarita is the third highest peak in Africa. Joining the trek is Jerome Gabriel (Virunga Investment) and (Virunga Infrastructure).

It has been an incredibly difficult year but we have managed to keep our gorillas safe despite the challenges of growing insecurity and the financial crisis caused by COVID 19. To try and keep this effort going, we are launching an adopt a gorilla campaign today, World Gorilla Day, to help us keep our orphan gorilla safe together with our extraordinary population in the wild. We would be incredibly grateful for any support you can give us to keep them safe through these difficult times.

Mama Gato had twins! The two little ones were born yesterday. She has already had 6 kids already, so an experienced mum! Nakamwe is a very proud dad as well. A lovely pre gift for World Gorillas Day on Thursday.

The school kids of Rumangabo having been busy drawing their picture for the T-shirt competition for World Gorilla Day. Get your kids to draw a picture and post on Instagram with and we will choose the best and have them on sale at our online shop. All proceeds will go to the park.

Happy World lion day. This little guy was captured on camera trap a few years ago in Lulimbi. His pride is still around the area and can be heard calling at night from camp.

For those of you who have visited Bukima, May remember that we have a clay statue of a silverback gorilla. Bukima, the silverback from the Rugendo group, came for a little visit to the ranger post and took offense to having another silverback on a visit too. He challenged the statue and eventually gave in after realizing, this guy, he’s not real!
