The most beautiful historic brasseries of Paris 🇫🇷✨
A friend of mine (also a client) recently hit me with: «Dima, I’ll be in Paris tomorrow, book us a proper historic brasserie» — caught me off guard 😅
I knew a few spots, sure. But 100% expert level? Not quite. And this client doesn’t leave room for a wrong call. Plus it was August — half the best places in Paris go on holiday.
Did my research, called a few concierge friends in Paris, asked around about each one. Sharing the list 👇
🥂 Bofinger (Bastille) — Paris’s oldest brasserie, since 1864. Glass dome, belle époque stained glass. Alsatian cuisine, the city’s best choucroute.
🎨 La Coupole (Montparnasse) — opened 1927, a legend of Paris’s bohemian era. 33 columns, each painted by a different artist.
🚂 Mollard — Art Nouveau ceramics and mosaics opposite Gare Saint-Lazare. Great for a bite before catching a train, open late.
🪟 Brasserie Flo — stained glass, wood panelling, early 1900s atmosphere.
📚 La Rotonde (Montparnasse) — a meeting point for artists and writers since 1911. Velvet booths, paintings, warm light.
🎭 Le Train Bleu (Gare de Lyon) — built for the 1900 World’s Fair, Monument Historique since 1972. 41 paintings on the walls.
☕️ Le Grand Colbert — a brasserie since 1900 near Palais-Royal. Painted ceilings, famous tea time.
🪞 Vagenende — since 1904, endless mirrors, Art Nouveau woodwork on Boulevard Saint-Germain.
🌿 Bouillon Julien — Monument Historique since 1997, decor in the spirit of Alphonse Mucha. And rare for such a setting — very affordable.
