Unpopular opinion: The best view in Paris doesn’t feature the Eiffel Tower. In fact, the most fascinating parts of the city require you to look completely off the beaten path—or even underground. 🤫👇

Skip the Louvre lines and save these 5 unusual Paris spots for your next itinerary:

1. Musée des Arts Forains
A surreal, private museum of vintage carnival attractions and 19th-century fairground art where you are actually invited to play with the exhibits and ride the centenarian carousels.
📍 Address: 53 Av. des Terroirs de France, 75012 Paris
(⚠️ Pro-tip: You must book a guided tour online in advance to enter!)

2. Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF Richelieu)
Skip the modern libraries and head to the historic Richelieu site. The breathtaking Salle Ovale is a massive, glass-domed reading oasis open to everyone for free.
📍 Address: 5 Rue Vivienne, 75002 Paris

3. Rue du Chat-qui-Pêche
Step into the "Street of the Fishing Cat." Measuring just 1.8 meters wide, this is officially the narrowest street in Paris, packed with quirky local urban legends.
📍 Address: Rue du Chat Qui Pêche, 75005 Paris

4. Villa Seurat
A hidden, ivy-clad private cul-de-sac that served as a modernist artist colony in the 1920s. Walk through to admire the incredible studio architecture where legends like Salvador Dalí and Henry Miller used to create.
📍 Address: Villa Seurat, 75014 Paris

5. Shakespeare and Company
The ultimate literary sanctuary. This iconic English-language bookstore on the Seine still acts as a "Tumbleweed Hotel," having housed thousands of traveling writers over the decades in exchange for a few hours of work.
📍 Address: 37 Rue de la Bûcherie, 75005 Paris

Paris in June hits different 🥐✨ From all-night contemporary art festivals and street-wide concerts to traditional carnivals and the return of the floating Olympic Cauldron - the energy right now is unmatched.

The best part? Most of these experiences are completely FREE! Here are the exact details you need to drop into your itinerary:

🌌 1. Nuit Blanche (White Night): Happens the night of Saturday, June 6th. The theme this year is a massive "Celebration of Love" curated by Barbara Butch. Light installations open at sunset, and the Métro runs all night!

🎸 2. Fête de la Musique: Sunday, June 21st (Summer Solstice). Literally every street corner, park, and cafe terrace turns into a live stage. The biggest hubs are around the Tuileries, Louvre, and along the Seine.

🎡 3. Tuileries Funfair: Runs all month long! It’s completely free to enter the grounds and walk around. You only pay if you want to hop on a ride (the Ferris Wheel is a must for sunset) or grab food.

🎈 4. The Return of the Paris Cauldron: The iconic 100-foot floating Olympic ring takes flight again starting June 21st! Catch it rising into the twilight sky every evening from the Tuileries Garden pool.

🎾 5. Roland-Garros Fan Zone: Catch the epic Grand Slam finals in early June. Skip the crazy ticket prices and head straight to City Hall (Hôtel de Ville) where giant public screens are set up for fans.

Betsy came to Stockholm from North Dakota for a study tour, but left with a wild island adventure. 🎒➡️🚣‍♀️
Betsy and her friends were on a Stockholm study tour and complemented lecture halls with the ultimate weekend plot twist: 15km of paddling through the wild, untouched Stockholm Archipelago.
No crowded tourist spots or city noise. Just two paddles, a couple of kayaks, hidden passages, and pulling onto a deserted rocky island for a food break 🌲🔥

At Catterfly, we believe learning outside the classrooms is also a big part of our personal growth. Big or small, we design the experiences that become memories for lifetime.
Share your favourite weekend escapades, if you indulged in something similar while being away on Study tour, or for work?

🇫🇷 Planning a trip to France? Don’t make typical tourist mistakes.

Here is your ultimate insider cheat sheet to unlock an effortless, authentic French getaway.
Save this post for later! 📌

1. THE SPEED HACK: TGV TRAINS
Skip driving. France’s high-speed trains connect the best regions in record time:
Paris ➔ Bordeaux: 2.5 hours
Paris ➔ Alsace: 3 hours
Paris ➔ South of France: 4.5 hours

✅PRO-TIP: Book 3–4 months early. 1st-Class often costs the exact same as 2nd-Class!

2. TIMING: WHEN TO GO
The Mistake: July & August (overcrowded, expensive, local shops close).

✅The Smart Move: Shoulder seasons (May–June or Sept–Oct) for perfect weather and zero crowds.

3. PACKING: SMART & LIGHT
Footwear: Ditch heels. Historic cobblestones require stylish, broken-in walking shoes.

✅Bags: Pack light. Train racks are small, and historic hotels rarely have big elevators.

4. EXPERIENCES: GO OFF-CIRCUIT
Skip the tourist traps for real magic:

✅Alsace: Bike through historic winemaking villages. Bordeaux: Stay in subterranean Cave Houses in Saint-Émilion.
Burgundy: Go truffle hunting with trained hounds.

5. THE STAY: BOOK LOCAL
The Reality: Global booking engines completely miss the best local châteaux and authentic gîtes.

✅The Fix: Work with local experts who have direct access to hidden properties you can't find online.
