Brienz Rothorn Bahn

When I looked out the window of the Brienzer Rothorn mountain hotel this morning, all I saw was gray fog. And yet I noticed that the cloud cover wasn’t completely dense and there was a breeze. The chances of the clouds clearing up looked good to me, so I set off for the summit with Lil Rasta and my partner.
We were enveloped in thick fog, but I could faintly make out a few colors on the horizon. Would the fog lift? Would it happen in time for sunrise?
And indeed, the fog seemed to be lifting. Below us lay a sea of fog, and on the other side, the first rays of the sun were shimmering through. I could hardly believe it. That light, those colors, that atmosphere! Lil Rasta was more preoccupied with the tasty ice grass, but eventually managed to pose for a photo with me.
Moments like these are simply unbelievably beautiful. Being able to experience them now with Lil Rasta is a gift.

The Brienz Rothorn Railway is expected to continue running up to the Brienzer Rothorn until October 25. After that, it will go on its winter break.

For me, the Brienzer Rothorn is a place I long to be. The chugging of the steam locomotive, the fresh breeze that caresses your face during the ride, the lowing cows munching on the last remnants of the alpine meadows. The majestic mountains in the distance, nature’s ever-changing beauty as the seasons come and go. Spending the night up at the mountain lodge and greeting the sun early in the morning, watching the ibex in the distance as they laze about. In the fall, these excursions are especially beautiful to me, yet at the same time, a sense of melancholy sets in. It won’t be long before winter takes over here again. Then we’ll have to wait until next spring to relive this breathtaking experience.
The Brienzer Rothorn is my second home. 🥰

Aufgrund des vom Kanton Bern verfügten Feuerverbots im Wald und in Waldesnähe dürfen unserekohlegefeuerten Dampflokomotiven bis auf Weiteres nicht eingesetzt werden.

Der Bahnbetrieb findet weiterhin gemäss Fahrplan statt. Die Züge werden mit unseren ölfgefeuerten Dampflokomotiven sowie mit Diesellokomotiven geführt.

Wir danken euch für euer Verständnis und freuen uns, euch trotzdem auf dem Brienzer Rothorn begrüssen zu dürfen. 🚂
