Best Swiss chocolate? 🇨🇭

There’s no single answer. Switzerland has everything from supermarket favorites to small artisan producers, and what people prefer often depends on taste more than price.

Names like Lindt, Läderach, Ca***er, Ragusa, Camille Bloch, Sprüngli and Frey are all well known, but locals rarely agree on one winner. Some prefer classic milk chocolate, others go for dark chocolate, pralines or fresh chocolate made in local shops.

If you’re visiting Switzerland, the best approach is simple: try a few and decide for yourself.

Luggage on Swiss trains 🇨🇭

Swiss train travel is generally straightforward when it comes to luggage. In most cases, you bring your bags onboard yourself, with luggage racks near the doors, overhead storage for smaller items, and extra space depending on the train type.

Many larger stations also have luggage lockers, useful if you want to explore a city or make a stop without carrying your bags around. You’ll find them in major hubs like Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, Bern and Geneva, with different locker sizes depending on what you’re carrying.

If you’re moving through mountain destinations or making several train changes, packing lighter still helps.

Best base for hiking in the Jungfrau Region? 🇨🇭

Grindelwald is one of the strongest options for hiking in the Jungfrau Region thanks to its direct access to trail networks, mountain lifts and rail connections. From here, routes lead toward First, Kleine Scheidegg, Eiger Trail, Bachalpsee, Männlichen and the wider Bernese Oberland.

The village sits below the Eiger and works well for both shorter scenic walks and full mountain days. Trains, gondolas and cable cars connect quickly into higher terrain, which makes planning easier without constantly changing base.

Swiss Guest Cards 🇨🇭

One of the most overlooked parts of Switzerland travel planning. Many regions offer guest cards through your accommodation, giving access to free public transport, discounts on mountain lifts, museums, lake boats, and local attractions.

The benefits depend on the destination. Some cover buses and trains within the region, others include cable car discounts or reduced entry to major sights. In places like Lucerne, Interlaken, Zermatt, Ticino and the Jungfrau Region, these cards can make a noticeable difference to your travel budget.

Before buying extra tickets, check what your hotel or apartment already includes.

Switzerland in June: How I’d plan it as a local 🇨🇭

If I were planning a Switzerland trip in June, I’d combine cities, lakes, and mountain regions much more evenly now.

I’d spend more time around the lakes, include proper mountain stays, and take advantage of the very long evenings.

At the same time, I still wouldn’t try to overpack the itinerary.

June gives you enough daylight and good conditions to travel at a much more enjoyable pace.

Switzerland in June: A few practical tips 🇨🇭🎒

Start mountain days early, especially if views matter to you.

June mornings are often much clearer before clouds start building later in the day.

Then book accommodation earlier if you’re traveling in the second half of the month, because popular areas get busy again surprisingly quickly.

Also, pack layers. Temperatures still change fast with elevation.

And don’t underestimate the mountain sun. UV exposure becomes very strong in June, even on cooler days.

Switzerland in June: What prices are actually like 🇨🇭💸

June sits in an interesting middle ground.

It’s usually more expensive than May, especially later in the month, but often still slightly cheaper than July and August.

Availability changes throughout the month too.

Early June still gives you decent flexibility in many places.

Later in the month, especially in popular mountain regions, good hotels can disappear surprisingly quickly.

Switzerland in June: Why this month is so good 🇨🇭☀️💧

June is when Switzerland really starts feeling like summer.

You get long daylight hours, warm evenings outside, lake season starting again, and much more flexibility for bigger itineraries.

At the same time, waterfalls are still incredibly strong from the snow melt, especially in the Alps.

That means you still get some of the dramatic water flow that slowly fades later in summer.

Switzerland in June: What hiking is actually like 🇨🇭🥾

June is one of the best hiking months in Switzerland.

Lower and mid-elevation trails are usually in very good condition by now.

But higher alpine routes are a different story.

Some trails still hold snow surprisingly late depending on the winter and recent temperatures.

Always check local trail conditions before you go.

Switzerland in June: What’s actually operating 🇨🇭🚠

June is much easier than May.

Most cable cars, mountain restaurants, and higher areas reopen again.

But not everything happens at the same time.

Some mountain regions still need more time for the snow to melt completely.

Always check what’s actually running before you go.

Planning Switzerland can get overwhelming fast.
