Delighted to be speaking at the inaugural Associations Conference Europe in Antwerp this September.
It’s a little different from my usual mountain-related talks! This time I’ll be sharing some of UIMLA’s experience as we’ve grown from a largely Alpine organisation into a genuinely international federation.
Over the past few years we’ve more than doubled our member associations, welcomed countries such as Japan and Nepal, and supported the development of new associations in the Balkans. Along the way we’ve had to tackle some fascinating governance challenges around representation, fairness, international legal frameworks and building an organisation that works for members with very different histories and perspectives.
I’m looking forward to meeting colleagues from across the association sector, learning from their experiences, and hopefully sharing a few ideas from ours.
