Spent day with a very nice couple from Michigan. They wanted to see as much as possible in 1 day. Mother Nature gave us a mixed bag. We had rain, snow, sun and rainbows.

Had a great tour with two ladies who were visiting Switzerland. A scenic drive, 2 gondolas, a bus and a scenic hike in the Swiss Alps. We hiked to a little mountain village I’ve never been to and found a quaint little restaurant on the edge of a cliff. It was a very nice day!!

Hike, Bike, or Drive, the Gotthard pass is a stunning experience. On this particular day, I chose to ride my gravel bike. After a scenic 2-hour train ride to the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland, I started my bike ride up the historical Gottard Pass.

The Gottard Pass is steeped in history and it was fun riding up the old cobble stone road. As I got closer to the top the weather started to change. Thick clouds, cold, and rainy with temps in the low 40s. Needless to say, I didn't linger long. I grabbed a quick Cervelat (typical Swiss Sausage) donned some layers and found the trailhead down the other side.

For the way down I decided to take the old Mule paths down as much as my gravel bike allowed. Once I got below the clouds the views were stunning and the sun was once again shining. The path down meanders through the valley following streams with countless views of the Alps, waterfalls, historic bridges, and Swiss villages. With over 4000' elevation gain I earned myself a cold beer on the train ride home. Hike, Bike, or Drive; The Gotthard Pass should be on your list when you visit Switzerland
