The tournament started yesterday, unfortunately with a loss for the Swiss team, but with a great festive mood all around Switzerland.
Today Sion waits for the fans of Belgium and Italy in the stadium of Tourbillon!

🏰 Discover Château de Tourbillon - Sion - Valais — Just 600 m from our Doorstep!

Nestled atop a rocky hill above Sion, Château de Tourbillon dates back to the late 13th century when Bishop Boniface de Challant built it as his stronghold. Though rebuilt in the 15th century and tragically gutted by fire in 1788, the castle now stands as beautifully restored ruins—an iconic viewpoint overlooking the Rhône Valley.

From mid‑March to November, guided tours start at 11:00, 12:00, and 15:30, with an extra 16:30 session during peak season. Led by Cédric, the castle caretaker, these tours offer rich historical insight and access to spots usually off‑limits to solo visitors—perfect for curious explorers!

Asterix and the Château de St. Maurice

A visit to the new exhibition of the castle of St.Maurice is an activity that will excite the Asterix and Obelix lovers!

Getting there: You will need 28 minutes from the parking of our apartment to the parking that is in front of the castle.
If you have time, you could visit also the cave of the fairies that can be reached on foot from the castle.

Opening period of the castle: 5 April – 16 Novembre 2025

The castle hosts every year a new exhibition. In the shop you will find also interesting books and posters from current and past exhibitions.
In the first part of the castle, you will find some historic exhibits. A room with the heads of the canton of the Valais in the last centuries together with some old furniture and other documents of the local history and the history of the castle and its strategic point from the lake of Geneva up to the valley of Rhone.

After these rooms you can enter in the Asterix exhibition.
You will find lots of infos, photos and part of the work of René Goscinny (writer of Asterix) and Albert Uderzo (illustrator and sketcher). The rooms include interactive elements and will excite young and older Asterix lovers!
The texts are in French, but we used online translators.
The exhibition is dedicated specially to the edition Asterix in Switzerland, written in 1970, a copy of which you will find in many languages in the museum!
