Not all mountain trips are the same.

Some people want tents, cold lakes and cooking outside after a long hiking day.
Others prefer long hut-to-hut days through quiet valleys.
And some like their hiking combined with spa evenings and good hotel beds.

Honestly? I completely understand all three. 😄

So… what kind of mountain person are you?

Instagram sometimes makes it feel like hiking in the Alps is all about the Tour du Mont Blanc or the Haute Route.

And yes, those routes are beautiful. But the Alps are so much bigger than that.

There are still quiet trails out there where you can walk for hours without seeing many people. Small huts. Empty lakes. Tiny mountain villages. The kind of places that make you slow down a little.

That’s the part of the Alps I personally love most.

For a few days, your entire world fits into one backpack.

A tent.
A sleeping bag.
Dry socks if you’re lucky.

You spend your days walking through the mountains, swimming in cold lakes, cooking outside and falling asleep to the sound of cowbells somewhere far below.

It’s not luxurious.
And honestly, that’s exactly the point.

No schedules. No noise. No endless choices.
Just the mountains, the group, and the next place to pitch your tent. 🏕️

Wild camping in the Swiss Alps
24–27 August
Small group, max 6 people.

We used to live by the sea in the Netherlands, and back then we always went on holiday to the mountains.
🏔️
Now that we live in the mountains, we somehow always end up back by the sea. Funny how that works.
🌊
These days we just prefer it a little warmer than the North Sea. Give us salty air, warm water and a quiet beach somewhere.
☀️
In a couple of days we’ll go home again, cause a week without Woody is the maximum for me. (He stayed with his best friend Thor this time and is almost certainly having a better holiday than us. Almost certainly. …

You don’t have to suffer to experience the Alps.

Somewhere along the way, mountain trips became associated with blisters, crowded dorms and dehydrated trekking meals.

But honestly? There’s another way to do it.

On the Via Alpina deLuxe we spend our days hiking through some of the most beautiful parts of the Swiss Alps, swimming in mountain lakes, crossing high passes and eating picnic lunches with ridiculous views.

And at the end of the day?
A hot shower.
A comfortable hotel room.
A good dinner.
A spa with mountain views.

Adventure and comfort can exist in the same trip.
Actually, they make each other even better. 🏔️

The first edition is already fully booked.
There are still three departures this summer you can join.

Small group, max 6 people.

Answer with “Via Alpina” if you’d like the details.

The last few months, Richard and I have been spending a lot of time choosing bathroom tiles, taps and mirrors for our new house.

And then there’s this bathroom somewhere in the Alps. 🏔️

A tiny mirror outside, mountain air and someone brushing their teeth with glacier views.

Honestly, I was pretty happy there too. 🙃

One of the nicest things about a multi-day trek like the Tour du Val de Bagnes is how small life suddenly becomes.

You don’t think about what to wear. You wear what’s warm enough.
You don’t think about dinner. Whatever the hut is serving will taste amazing anyway.
You stop checking the news. Stop thinking about emails. Stop overcomplicating things.

After a few days, your world becomes very simple:
walk, eat, swim, sleep, repeat.

And honestly, that simplicity feels surprisingly good. 🏔️

The Tour du Val de Bagnes is a 5-day hut-to-hut trek through one of the quieter corners of the Swiss Alps.
Small group, max 8 people.

20–24 July
3–7 August

The best reviews are the ones people post themselves afterwards, without being asked.

Last summer’s wild camping trip turned into one of those weeks people kept talking about long after they got home. Not because it was comfortable, but because it was real. Sleeping outside, carrying everything yourself, mountain weather, cold swims, tired legs, big laughs and good conversations somewhere between the climbs.

Most of the people who joined this trip last year are actually joining another wild camping adventure with us this summer, in a different area of the Alps. Which probably says enough. 🏔️

Next departure this summer. Small group, big adventure. 🏕️

Last week I told you that for the Via Alpina Deluxe, no outdoor experience needed. The Wildcamping Wallis is a very different story.

This trek is for people who actually want to sleep under the stars, carry everything on their back, and go four days without a hot shower or a proper toilet.

No cold rosé waiting at the end of the day. But a beer chilled in an alpine lake? That we can do.

If that sounds more like a punishment than a holiday — the Via Alpina Deluxe might be more your thing. And that’s completely fine.

But if something in you just thought “that actually sounds amazing” — then this trip might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

Sandy, who guides this trip this summer, knows these mountains better than almost anyone. He guides, you just show up.

Open to men and women. Max 6 🏕️
Next date: 24–27 August 2026.

👉Drop a 🏕️ and I’ll send you the link.

And tell me: cold rosé or alpine lake beer — which side are you on?

Last summer these two (last pic) joined me for four days of wild camping in the Swiss Alps.
This week we had a little reunion in Verbier. 🍻

Some trips stay with you.
And apparently, so do the people you meet on them. ☺️

Naomi came to visit for a week with her family. On her very first morning she texted:
“Do you always wake up to views like this?”
Yes, Naomi. We do. 🌄

And of course, when you’re in Verbier… you fly.
If you ever find yourself here, go with Mike and Stu from . Worth every second. 🙌
