At the recent AFS camp, our exchange students creatively shared their experiences in Switzerland through short theatre scenes, highlighting funny, surprising and everyday moments.

We also reflected on the ups and downs of exchange life. Everyone’s journey is unique and that’s what Intercultural Learning is all about: embracing differences, facing challenges and growing from them.

In small groups, students talked about their upcoming return home and what might await them there.

Highlights included a fun Switzerland quiz and a birthday celebration with a delicious cake brought by another student’s host mother. To wrap up the camp, students wrote letters for the next group of exchange students. And as always, everyone signed each other’s flags to keep the memories alive.

🔥Bye Bye BBQ – Bern, June 4

Around 30 people joined us at the Quartierzentrum in Bern – Hosting students, our Sending student from Canada and lots of Host families!

🌧️ Despite the rain, the grill was on, the buffet was beautiful and the ice breaker game helped everyone connect.

🎁 The students received a small goodbye gift from the Chapter: a mini Swiss flag to collect signatures – a sweet memory to take home!

AFS Switzerland is excited to share the latest adventure organized by the Basel chapter!

For their latest event, the Basel chapter took participants on a trip to the Jura mountains. They went hiking and learned how to build a bivouac.
Despite wind and rain, everything held up perfectly — true Swiss outdoor spirit! 💪🏕️

The little adventure ended in St. Ursanne, where the group explored the old town and enjoyed some delicious ice cream.
A perfect day with great memories — what a beautiful experience! ☀️

🌍 Rebuilding Peace – An Exchange for Peace in Liechtenstein
A young Israeli and a young Palestinian spent a year together in Liechtenstein through a project initiated by lawyer Maximilien Marxer. Supported by Hereditary Princess Sophie, the program aimed to build bridges between cultures. Yahli and Aizen, now friends, return home transformed:
“We learned that all we truly want is to live in peace.”
A message of hope, carried by the youth. ✨🕊️
