A few more highlights of the last days of our trip..Rheinfalls was our first stop after returning from Germany on Wed, then a stop at Ernst’s farm for lunch and a tour of their place. Thursday was our hike to the anabaptist cave, Tauferhole, and then a beautiful drive to Schwagalp, to tour another alpine cheese factory and a lunch stop. We ended the day with a stop at the Maestroni chocolate factory, dinner at the hotel, and then a concert given by Ernst’s choir that he directs. We don’t enjoy the goodbyes but trust it was a blessed time for everyone, as we have now arrived back on US soil.. thanks for following along!

Yesterday we left Interlaken and the beautiful Alps,and headed for France. The picturesque town of Riquewihr was our lunch and shopping stop, before heading further into the Alsace to see a few Anabaptist sites. The valley where Jacob Amman lived after being pushed into France, and an overlook of that valley. Then we headed back to the Black Forest of Germany for our Hotel and some shopping for cuckoo clocks and the beautiful falls behind the hotel.

Boat ride on Lake Thun..

Yesterday was mountain day!! What a beautiful day to enjoy the cable car ride to the top of Schilthorn! After a nice lunch at the restaurant on top, we descended back into the valley and boarded a boat for a relaxing and scenic ride on lake Thun…

Starting our tour of the Fankhauser Farm

Friday was mostly spent on the Fankhauser farm in the village of Trub..(an Anabaptist hiding place) We have the tradition of helping them work after our tour and a nice lunch..it always ends up being a highlight! The ladies washed windows and worked in the garden, and then men mowed grass and weeds as well as helped Simon make hay. After that we drove to Steffisburg to see the historic church with Anabaptist names. Then came back to the hotel in Eggiwil for our last dinner and an alphorn concert.

Singing in the cathedral in Bern…

We started the day on Thursday with more walking through the city of Bern. Local guide and Anabaptist author Markus Rediger, met us and guided us through the historic capitol city. Then we had a nice lunch stop at a cheese house, with a tour following that. From there we drove to the Hans Haslebacher farm for a brief look around, and then on to Trachselwald castle, and a stop at a local bell/ leather shop.
