During the past couple years, I started a new project that I haven't really published so far, but which has great potential! It is the new Hybrid Wood/Carbon option for tops, backs, and sides—basically the ultimate solution I can now offer for people who travel frequently in different climates. Best of all, these models deliver an incredibly clear, responsive, and super balanced sound with endless sustain!

The Hybrid Wood/Carbon models feature laminated tops, backs, and sides, with the outer layers made of fine woods and a thin middle layer made of carbon fibre fabric. This results in a stiff sandwich construction that is much more resistant to humidity changes than solid wood, while offering an incredible tap tone. The final stiffness of the top is kept to the same deflection as my solid wood tops, but the sides turn out significantly stiffer.

Another great feature is that you can combine different woods on the inside and outside for different sound flavours. For the back and sides, I have been using black-coloured Pear veneer on the inside to make the hybrid models easily distinguishable from the solid wood models.

For those who remember, I offered the B-Compact Small models as all-solid carbon fibre models for quite a few years, but I never truly enjoyed working with carbon as a material. The great thing about this new approach is that I don't have to sand carbon fibre at all during the building process. The only time I encounter carbon dust is when cutting the binding channels on the body. Other than that, the entire body construction and building process, including the bracing, remains the same as on my solid wood guitars, which is a major advantage from a builder's perspective.

This option has not yet been added to the website (which is long overdue for an update anyway, but that's a different story ;)), but all B-Compact models are now available as Hybrid models without any limitations on wood combinations!

And here is what Timo's dad's guitar turned out like during the "Build it yourself experience" they did together last summer!
He chose to build a B-Big with a Sitka Spruce top and an American Walnut body with Hawaiian Koa bindings, bevels and inlays, which gives it that natural, organic beauty 😍
Christoph was very happy with the result all around and so was I 😎
It was a real pleasure and great fun helping you both building your fine instruments! Thank you again and congrats on all your work on it!

So here is Timo's guitar, who was here with his father last summer and he build this hot looking B-Small Slim Body Electric with an "Evertune bridge" installed. Never heard of it? It's an amazing concept of a high-end bridge that keeps your guitar always in tune, no matter how much you bend the strings! Check it out on the link below.
The pick-ups are the high-end Häussel Humbuckers as we almost always use.
Timo decided to go for a really catchy yellow/red sunburst in high gloss which really pops with the highly flamed Maple bindings and round bevels. It all turned super cool! Congratulations again Timo on all your work on it 😎

Still catching up from last year...
Last summer I had a father with his son doing a "Built it yourself experience" for a B-Small Slim Body Jazz Electric and a B-Big model. It was great fun and the instruments turned out beautifully!
Here a few impressions of the building process for now, the picts of the finished guitars will follow... ☺️

This was one here was a little B-Compact Small body beauty in Swiss Spruce and quilted Sapele body and Sapele neck, that went to the Netherlands last summer.
It has a short scale of around 58cm, equal to the second fret of a full scale, which is what we now most use on the B-Small bodies.
I really loved the look and sound of that one! Thought is was worth showing as well 😉
I happen to have some other small body B-Compact models in stock if someone is interested.

I'd like to continue showing you a few more guitars from last year...
This was a unique B-Small Slim Body Jazz Electric that was built during a "Build it yourself experience" with a young girl from England who came with her dad. This one has fixed screwed neck with full scale and it's got a Spruce top with a Mahogany body and neck. Fretboard and bridge are in Rosewood, the Häussel Humbuckers and the k***s are in Ebony.
Hazel wanted that top colored matching the turquoise stone fret markers we used. Of course I was a bit skeptical at first, but I ended up really liking it how it turned out. It helped giving it just that tiny bit of a burst ;) She also loves pineapple! So we had to get one on there as well which also turned out pretty cool!
Well done Hazel! 😊

At the beginning of last year I also had the privilege of building this B-Compact Custom Small body full scale model for Valerie Turner. She's a great old stile Blues player from the US and was good friends with Roy Bookbinder, who got her interested in the first place.
She ended up selecting a torrefied Sitka top with a rub-on tabacco sunburst combined with a Rosewood body and it seemed to be just the right choice for her. Here's her comment she sent me after a few days of playing it...

"This guitar sounds incredible! Its tone is warm and has a bit of growl. Every note rings clearly and beautifully, and the volume is excellent. It's perfect for the music I play. This guitar feels and sounds better than most instruments I've tried and it's amazing how it came together so wonderfully just using email. I'm glad that you talked me into the torrefied top - best decision ever!"

Thanks again Valerie!! 😊

This one was a B-Compact Small body custom short scale model with a Spruce/Rosewood body and flamed Maple bindings and bevel, which we rarely do on the small bodies. But even on the small body it sure adds some comfort and elegance ;)
These small body models are indeed pretty small, yet great fun to play and they project a much bigger sound than what you'd expect. It's definitely the most "compact" version of the B-Compact models when it comes to traveling!

Here is a B-Compact slim body Jazz model as a multi-neck version with an additional nylon string neck. This one was built in winter 2025 during a Build it yourself Experience together with Ingmar from Germany and it was then lacquered later in spring, that's why I missed showing your the finished guitar, which turned out very cool!
Top, body and neck is all in flamed Maple with rub-on black stain and satin finish. The bindings are flamed Koa. The guitar has a P90 Häussel pick-up for the steel string neck plus an additional LR Baggs Element undersaddle pick-up for both, the steel and nylon string neck.
Ingmar also got one of our new self-made B-Compact fibre glass cases for the slim body, which even offers room for two necks!
It's a pretty slick package ;)
Congratulations again Ingmar on this unique guitar! It was fun helping you building it :)
