• Boat, GARCIA shipyard’s state-of-the-art 22 meter (73 feet) aluminum sloop, designed and built for unlimited range passages and thoroughly equipped for our high-latitude activities.

• High comfort and attention to detail: Warm and welcoming accommodation in double-berth cabins, each with en-suite individual restrooms and showers, heating, lighting and power supply. A memorable culinary experience & well-thought support around outdoor activities.

Nunatak: islands in a sea of ice

The word nunatak comes from the Inuit language of Greenland and means “isolated land.” It describes a mountain peak or rocky ridge that rises above the surrounding ice, standing like an island in a frozen ocean.

These dramatic formations offer a glimpse of the landscape hidden beneath glaciers and ice caps, creating some of the most striking scenery in the Arctic. At the Svalbard archipelago, numerous nunataks emerge from glaciers and snowfields, shaping the wild and rugged character of the region.

For explorers and sailors alike, nunataks are powerful symbols of resilience and permanence—ancient rock standing above ice that is constantly moving and changing.

After a beautiful day of skiing, we were all safely back on board when this polar bear quietly appeared by the shore.

We know encounters like this are never something to take for granted. Being able to observe such a magnificent animal, from the safety of the boat and without disturbing it, was a true privilege — and one we are deeply grateful for.
