It was a team effort by Team Sanders to get this beautiful mahi mahi in the boat . As the fish got closer to the boat, I sticked it with the gaff only to find that I had just lifted it out of the water with the lure 🤦‍♂️ haha . Mahi went a little crazy but we managed to get it in the boat the second time .
Didn’t see much birds out on the south side of the island but the water temp is definitely cooler on the north side siting at 25.3 degrees.
Hopefully start seeing some whales and wahoo in the weekend to come .

The morning stared off nice and relaxed with the wind coming from the South West so we decided to do the coast run and go down swell heading east.
It was all going well, then the heavens opened up and it started to rain. 🌧️ this was ok because we found some birds and got a double strike . Couldn’t take pics out there as it was wet lol I tried to but phone didn’t want to work.
First fish was in the boat within 5 mins and the second fish got chomped by a wahoo 🤦. Hopefully better luck with this wahoo tomorrow.

Always nice meeting new people, hope you all enjoyed getting wet today lol. Thanks for coming fishing with us .

Today was a stunner of a day. Managed to put some blood in the bin and some smiles on faces.
Always cool taking customers out that have never done game fishing before and getting them on the big fish is awesome .
Well it’s definitely tuna on the menu tonight team.

Another day with good people and good conditions.
Got a nice wahoo with some tuna on Wednesdays charter.
Cap Metz doing what he does best, putting smiles on faces and fish in the bin 🎣.

Back at it team!!!
Last few charter have been a little bumpy but have come back with some fish. We also had a shark on that we thought was a nice size tuna haha 🤦‍♂️. Managed to remove my hook from the sharks mouth so he lives to fight another day.
Definitely been tuna on the menu for the last few days , supposed to be some better weather from tomorrow onwards 🤞.
Appreciate all the work we’ve been getting and hope to see you all again soon for another adventure.

Was a father and son day today .
Rung them up this morning and said that it’s a little bumpy out there , William (son) said that it’s fine they go out fishing all the time . Ok. Mission excited.
The boys came back with 5 yellowfin tuna in the bin and they said that they could have got more but it was getting late.
Well done team and thanks for choosing us to take you out fishing.

Captain Mets at it again with this monster marlin caught yesterday . Estimated weight around 180kgs mark.
This team went on a 4 and a half hr trip and ended up being an all day charter haha . Nice work team. This marlin had hooked up on the last hr on the charter and that’s where it all began . There was a few sharks hanging around too waiting to get a taste of this monster .
You never know what’s gonna happen out there on the ocean but you have to be in it to win it. Thanks for coming out with us guys, hope you enjoyed the fish for dinner.

This morning we were lucky enough to have our first fish on our all day 8 hr charter in the boat within 15 minutes of leaving the harbor !!! What an awesome way to start the charter . We ended up getting another couple before heading out wide on an adventure in pursuit of the big tuna.
Came across a big school of tuna, where we managed to get a double strike but only landed one 50kg yellowfin Tuna!
The helco 210s where doing the damage today from , even caught a shark lol( that we let go).

Tuesday was pretty full on! We had rods singing and lures getting smashed, a good day in the office .
Thanks to the champions that braved the conditions with us on both charters . We won’t talk about the fish lost but focus on the ones in the bin haha .

We entered into the fishing comp (Metz and myself) yesterday sponsored by Cook Islands Motor Center and believe it, we ended up finding the fish out wide but by the time we had found them the final weigh in had closed , so Metz and myself got two big yellowfin tuna each and mad our way home . At this time the sun had just started to disappear and we were more then a few miles out , it was a late finish for us. Unlucky we didn’t get our fish into the comp but happy we got some fish for dinner .

Been a pretty cool month to be fair , there has been some good catch’s and some that got away, and we all know that the one that got away is always the record breaking fish haha. The sashimi was deliciousssssss.
All the lucky lures that we got from are definitely doing the damage .
Thanks to everybody that chose to come out with us. Hope to see you all again soon for some more adventures.

Corey, a well-known local fisherman, was born and raised on Rarotonga with a fishing rod in either hand! He captains our 8.5 meter aluminium pontoon boat, purposely built for game fishing in Rarotonga.

On land you will find Nicole in the Reelaxing Fishing & Tackle shop located at the Avatiu Harbor, over the road from CITC Building Center. As well as finding out more information about our charter tours, you can also purchase quality fishing gear. A one-stop-shop for keen fishermen, visiting or local.
