Located on the small Islet (motu) of Akaiami in the beautiful Aitutaki Lagoon is Akaiami Paradise, a private accommodation consisting of a lodge and a villa set on a private island. The island itself is a historical site being the former landing strip for TEAL flying boats which regularly stopped for servicing or weather conditions during the coral route in the 1940’s and 50’s. The lodge has in fa

ct been rebuilt on the exact spot where the original TEAL terminal stood and has been built to keep in line with the original design. The lodge accommodates a maximum of six people on request, it has 1 bedroom, two double beds a lounge area fully equipped Kitchen, dinning area, mini library, ensuite, insect screened, deck, snorkelling gear, daily service and complimentary seasonal fruit. One unit houses the bedroom while the second unit consists of the kitchen. The villa can accommodate a maximum of two people and contains a queen bed, kitchen, en suite, waterfront deck, deck shower, snorkelling gear, daily service and complimentary seasonal fruit. There is no TV, no DVD, no Radio or any other gadgets to distract you from truly enjoying peace and quiet on the spectacular white sandy beach. Although you will be on your own private island, you will not be isolated. You will be visited daily. Lagoon cruises can be arranged, where passing day cruises will pick you up for a day of fun in the sun, snorkelling and BBQ lunch before returning back to Akaiami. You can bring supplies and cook in the full kitchen or meals can be arranged for you. Exclusive evening entertainment can also be arranged and can consist of a solo ukulele to a full string band or a small dance troupe. All transfers on Aitutaki are included and we include a stop at a convenience store before your 15 minute ferry to Akaiami Island. Your Villa awaits…

Dreams Do Come True!🌴
Aitutaki is a very special for our Hagemoen family. Here at the Vaipae CICC where they got married 28 years ago. And have visited Akaiami 6 times now. Our Hagemoen family is from Oslo Norway and have made another long journey to visit our beautiful Island Aitutaki and to spend time with our papa Pare & enjoy our beautiful home on Akaiami and swim in our beautiful lagoon.

Thank you Hagemoen family for blessing our papa with your visit and going on a coconut crab hunting just so our papa can enjoy some coconut crabs just for himself. He really felt spoiled and grateful. Thank you all so much.

Remember the other day they put the net out? Well, they caught only one small fish.

Never giving up, they tried again the second day...low and behold - God blessed them more than can enjoy for the whole week. Yayyy!

Papa putting out the net for some fresh fish for tomorrow. An easy activity to do on the island.

Our papa loves fishing. He has so much knowledge & passion about fishing. Fishing is favourite hobby and back in the days, he was often getting in trouble from our mama Ruru for going out fishing all night. 😍😍

He loved deep sea long line fishing - tuna fishing, snake parachutta fishing, flyfishing, pole spearfishing, free dive fishing, night spear fishing, net fishing to name a few but his favourite fishing was (arai pa) i don't know what's its called in English 😍

Oh how he wishes he was 10 years younger! And he would often say "fishing is so much fun".

On the island, we have this coconut husking iron stand our papa Pare made some 15+ years ago for his late wife our mama Ruru; and so many people still uses it until today. Some special people this evening will be treated to some fresh drinking coconuts & fresh flowers prepared this morning.

Coconut (nikau) leaves 🌴
Our Papa Pare is a hard working man and he finds so much JOY in the works of his hands, but as our papa have aged & with health issues - his pace & strength are not what they used to be, but he keeps on pressing on. Today, he needed to patch up the caps on the roof of our outdoor BBQ space that's covered with natural coconut leaves. These green leaves needs to be soaked in the sea until they're brown before weaving them and leaving it to dry in the sun for a few days.
