In light of last week’s tragedy on Go Local Cook Islands we want to reiterate our 100% preventative safety strategy built on the back of a 10 year professional lifeguarding career.
If we do not believe you have the ability to enjoy the conditions of the day, for your safety you will be provided a full refund. We simply will not take the risk.

Snorkeling at Avaavaroa passage requires some general swimming ability and a moderate level of fitness.
Boat taxis and sea scooters have been introduced in recent times by replicating operators to compensate for poor swimming abilities and low levels of fitness, bringing huge risk to our workplace that have resulted in 2 fatalities in last 13 months.

Support us in eliminating the boats and sea scooters from our workplace with our eco-friendly snorkeling experience. Boats and personal water craft always give way to bathing swimmers. Help us make Avaavaroa a safe experience for all water users.

WORLD OCEANS DAY 2025 🐢

Snorkel Cook Islands is proud to be eco-friendly and the last remaining genuine turtle tour operator in our work place that refuses to use motor boat taxis and sea scooters.

Our values and beliefs are mirrored in our tour offering. If our international professional lifeguarding and waterman backgrounds don’t allow us to provide a safe experience for our guests in the ocean conditions of the day without impacting her, we do not operate.

Safety for our guests and safety for the environment is the backbone to what we do.
Impacting our precious eco system through fuel discharge and underwater noise pollution is not what we are about. We would rather give our guests a refund.

We look forward to sharing the ocean with you all!
