RIP . Don Marquez aka Shefer, has passed away . He was a legend.. in . Lately known by climbers arround the world, for being the who lived under .

When years ago I came to live to patagonia, hiked many times to this basalt wall. I did'nt have a partner, so I just stared at the base of the wall, in loneliness.

One day a showed up with his heard of sheep and his dogs. It was Don Marquez… He asked me why are you staring at the wall, and Itold him ...I wanted to climb it!

He said I should go from behind, and I told him the idea is to go strait up . He then said, when you come again, well take the load in the horses.

Later one day with dragged me to the crag and the first routes were climbed, and then Don Marquez carried many of the climbers loads to the base of aka .

He was a brave, gentle and respectfull human being. He is part of the last culture that is left.

HUT GLACIAR 👣

Patagonia National Park - Jeinimeni sector.👍🏼

On my list of awesome multiday hikes, this one is probably a top 5! 🤙🏽

We did not do the traditional hike "Jeinimeni-Avilés", we took a right turn, further into the Hermoso Valley...🙋🏼‍♀️

We were already wet from our waist and down from all the river crossings.💪🏽

We found the Refugio, a nice wooden cabin, and stayed there for 2 days...🤟🏾👍🏼

This hike is wild because of its constant river-crossing. In some places, the current is extremely strong and the water deep. It's about finding the right places to cross to not be taking down by the river...🌈

HUT GLACIAR 👣

Patagonia National Park - Jeinimeni sector.👍🏼

On my list of awesome multiday hikes, this one is probably a top 5! 🤙🏽

We did not do the traditional hike "Jeinimeni-Avilés", we took a right turn, further into the Hermoso Valley...🙋🏼‍♀️
