In the next couple of months the Olive harvest will start in Andalusia, and nothing would give more pleasure than to be there helping these families collect their fruit in return for a few litres of this incredible liquid gold.

While climbing and filming the Eagles and Vultures in the high Sierras around Gaucin, Casares and along the Sierra de Libar valley, all the way to Ronda , I would always stop when I saw the locals hard at work whacking the trees with sticks or as is more common now motorised vibrating poles, and ask if I could help in return for a litre or so.

I will be in Andalusia in the new year filming again, but sadly I will have missed the harvesting in 2026. I will however visit a few of the local mills and load up my van to bring plenty home to the UK.

The olive oil business is as crooked as Donald Trump and his wretched family, so getting it straight from the owners of the Olive groves is a real bonus, because I know exactly what I am buying and eventually consuming. There are many things I miss after spending over a decade in Andalusia, and the Olive harvest is way up at the top of my list.

This is an RAF Typhoon in poor light over the coast of Dorset, and somehow I have captured this image that makes it look like I was somewhere up there in another plane taking it.

In reality I was in a boat below and I was extremely happy with the result.

To take the life of an animal for nothing more than sport, or a trophy, then leave it to rot after you have had your fun and taken you paid for prize,be that its head to be stuffed and hung on you living room wall, speaks volumes about the type of human you are.

A lion skin rug with head attached, an elephants tusk or a pair resting on your large desk, an elephants foot that you rest and extinguish your Monte Christo cigar in, the bear paw drink coaster, regardless of your choices to decorate your tasteless classless home, you fit in a category of people the world can well do with extinguishing.

I shoot deer here in the UK, it is the only meat I eat, I don’t take pleasure in taking its life, but the UK is swimming with deer, of which 4 species were introduced, Sika, Muntjac, Chinese water Deer and the 4th species, Fallow were first introduced by the conquering Romans but died out when their Empire fell, however many centuries later the Normans led by William The Conquerer re introduced them and they have thrived ever since. They do not belong and along with our indigenous Roe and much larger Red, have created a huge problems for regeneration efforts UK wide.

Venison is high in protein, and Iron and it blows my mind how so few people take advantage of this incredibly tasty meat.

The damage to the environment and cost I rearing domestic livestock is staggering . Vast swathes of jungles, forest worldwide have been and continue to be cleared to graze cattle or grow maize/ corn to feed cattle, land which could be put to much better use to@produce food for humans.

We have created an ecological cluster f**k, and it seems we still can’t see the wood for the trees, if you know what I mean!

Last week was International Vulture Awareness day. I was busy faffing in the river with Kingfishers, so here is a very rare clip of a newly hatched chick receiving its first yummy regurgitated meal from one of its parents.

These birds are grossly under appreciated and largely ignored, and many species have suffered huge losses in numbers due to human ignorance. They are the clean up birds, the undertakers of the animal kingdom, stopping the spread of serious disease into the environment that protects not just other species of wildlife but humans as well, they deserve better.

I was very lucky to have been in the right place at the right time to capture this legend of a plane in flight, especially with the setting sun. These Merlin powered beasts along with very brave souls who flew them and played such an important roll fighting the N**i war machine, are sadly very rare.

The world has changed in so many ways, and even though the threat of Fascist domination in Europe was defeated in 1945, once again parts of Europe and sadly part of the population in the UK believe extreme right wing politicians and their rhetoric are the answer.

The other day an absolute prime example of a f**king scum bag of a human being
finally died,Ratko Mladić. There are more like him waiting in the wings all over Europe, a sad fact and these harbingers of evil should be vehemently opposed and stamped out before we have another repeat, were the N**is and the crazed f**kers in Serbia not enough for us all?

My grandfather and his brothers fought in campaigns in Europe and North Africa, one never came home, I will be damned if I want to live in a country where the likes of Nigel Farage are in a seat of power, sowing hatred as he tries to turn himself into our own slimmed down version of Donald Trump, a man whose obituary will be a joy to read, it can’t go to print soon enough.

Freedom of speech, the right to protest, the right to question everything from those in power is the most important right the population can have.

When I saw that Spitfire in silhouette flying over the Dorset coast, it symbolised freedom and what was at stake if we are stupid enough to drop our guard, remember it is as important to keep an eye on the enemy within as much as the one clearly knocking on the door.

I always find Sunday mornings over a coffee the best time to have a rant😜🙏.

This Eurasian Griffon Vulture chick is only a couple of weeks away from fledging and it’s regurgitated meals from its parents will gradually become less frequent in order to force it out of the nest.

That being said it will still be reliant on the adult for several months after it takes to the wing, whereby it will accompany the adults to a feeding site, but it will like all newly fledged vultures be at the bottom of the pecking order. It will return to the nest and be fed by both parents, but at the carcass it might only pick up a few small scraps after the older birds have had their fill.

Over the years I observed many juvenile vultures returning to their old nests almost a year after fledging and still trying to hassle the adults for a meal, only to be driven away by a very annoyed adult.

River Otters are much harder to film than their coastal dwelling mates in Scotland. This year I have only seen a handful, hopefully things will improve as Autumn approaches🙏
