MYTH OR FACT?

“It never rains in the Atacama Desert.”

❌ Myth.

While the Atacama is the driest non-polar desert on Earth, “never” isn’t the right word.

In July 2026, an exceptional winter weather system brought intense rainfall to parts of northern Chile, including areas of the Atacama Region. Roads flooded, transport was disrupted and communities faced conditions that are incredibly rare in one of the world’s driest landscapes. (Reuters Connect)

Yet these unusual rains can also trigger one of nature’s most extraordinary spectacles: the Desierto Florido (Blooming Desert).

After sufficient rainfall, seeds that have remained dormant for years suddenly come to life, covering the desert with thousands of colorful wildflowers.

A reminder that even the driest places on Earth are full of surprises.

Traveler’s Tales: Beatrice & Matteo in Bolivia 🤍📸

Some landscapes don’t feel real.

The Salar de Uyuni is one of them.

A place where the horizon disappears, distances become impossible to judge, and suddenly everyone turns into a giant, a tiny explorer, or part of an optical illusion. ✨

For Beatrice Rizzi and Matteo, the adventure became even better when they crossed paths with two fellow ChileMontaña travelers. What started as a chance encounter quickly turned into laughter, creativity, and plenty of fun with Uyuni’s famous perspective shots. 📸

Between endless white landscapes, giant cacti rising from Incahuasi Island 🌵, colorful lagoons, and skies that seemed to go on forever, every moment felt a little extraordinary.

Some places give you beautiful views.

Others give you stories, unexpected friendships, and memories that stay with you long after the journey ends.

And Uyuni did exactly that. 🤍

Traveler’s Tales: Beatrice & Matteo in Atacama ☀️🌵 Beatrice Rizzi

Some places are beautiful.
Others feel like they were designed to make you smile.

For Beatrice and Matteo, the Atacama Desert was exactly that.

From giant cactus standing tall against endless skies 🌵, to shimmering salt lagoons where the mountains reflected like mirrors, every stop felt a little unreal.

They greeted the sunrise among the steaming geysers of El Tatio, soaked in natural hot springs hidden in the middle of nowhere, and wandered through landscapes so vast they seemed to stretch beyond the horizon.

But what made this journey special wasn’t just the desert.

It was the laughter between stops, the shared adventures, and the way they embraced every moment with the same energy they brought from day one.

Atacama gave them the scenery ✨.
Beatrice and Matteo brought the smiles. ❤️

Traveler’s Tales: Patagonia on Two Wheels 🚴‍♀️

This time, our travelers did Patagonia differently.

No rush, no windows, no “quick photo and go”.
Just bikes, open roads and that wild Patagonian wind doing its thing.

From the raw landscapes of Torres del Paine to the silence around the Milodón Cave, every kilometer felt earned and way more real.

Some trips you watch.
Others you ride.

And somehow, those are the ones you remember the most.

Patagonia, same destination but completely different story. 🇨🇱

High altitude. Clear minds. Big goals. 🇨🇱⛰️🥾

From Laguna Santa Rosa to Laguna Verde, the expedition unfolded step by step across the High Andes of northern Chile 🇨🇱.
The team built momentum, reached the summit of Nevado San Francisco (6,016 m), then pushed to Tejos Camp (5,837 m) before an alpine start toward Ojos del Salado, climbing up to 6,500 m and making the wise decision to turn back.

Every stage was intentional.

At ChileMontaña, acclimatization is the priority and safety is the foundation. Slow progression, strategic camps, constant evaluation, because in the Andes, how you climb matters just as much as how high you go. 🏔️
