The blue skies of the Tibetan plateau.

The quality of the blueness in the skies of Tibet is like nowhere else. You feel how close you are to the so-called roof of the world.

What does it mean to travel in an immersive, open and honest way? It means that you open up your heart to others, and to how others live, which can be a very humbling and transformative experience.

Discover two Himalayan treasures with us this spring: Bhutan & Nepal, in one journey ✨

Join an intimate group of travelers as we explore some of the most sought after sacred sites in both Bhutan & Nepal. We explore the Kathmandu valley, home to Hindu & Buddhist temples, stupas decorated in prayer flags, fresh flower offerings, and incense wafting through the air. Daily meditation sessions in stunning monasteries + explorations of remote & ‘off-the-beaten track’ sacred sites.

Vast skies, rolling steppes, and the quiet rhythm of nomadic life — Mongolia invites you to return to the raw simplicity of being.
In this land where the wind still sings through open plains and herders trace ancient paths, we journey into a landscape that mirrors the spaciousness of the mind itself.

Join Himalayan Hermitage on a 14-day, all-inclusive pilgrimage across the heart of Mongolia. Each day unfolds with meditation, reflection, and travel through a terrain shaped by time and silence. We will visit sacred Buddhist sites, sleep in traditional gers beneath constellations unspoiled by city light, and rise each morning to the stillness of dawn across the steppe.

Pilgrimage Across Mongolia: Meditation and Mother Earth’
June 1–14, 2026

This is more than a journey through a place — it is a pilgrimage into presence. A reconnection with the elemental beauty of Mother Earth, and with the quiet wisdom that arises when we move in rhythm with her.

This pilgrimage is for curious, active travellers ready to embrace stillness, slowness, and the vastness of nature.

The journey weaves together daily meditation, group discussions on Buddhist philosophy, and immersive travel through sacred landscapes — from sweeping steppes to Hustai National Park, home to the last wild horses of the region.

We invite you to join us in the summer of 2026, for a journey both inward and outward:
a return to what is essential, vast, and alive.

We are excited to offer our annual ‘Pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Sacres Sites in Tibet’ next summer in partnership with Buddhist magazine Lion’s Roar . This pilgrimage will be lead by Albin Hamard. Originally French, Albin holds a PhD in cognitive psychology and has worked extensively on how to introduce Tibetan Buddhist meditation methods into a western psychological framework. Today he works with athletes, company leaders and university students in how to better manage stress and how to improve their experience in life and work.

We had the great fortune to run into a group of monks from Trungpa Rinpoche’s monastery in Tibet, Surmang Monastery, located in the north eastern part of Tibet. We were equally amazed and fascinated by each other! Our group, a mixed bag of foreign nationalities, and the monks from Surmang, from this remote corner of Tibet. It was one of the highlights of our ‘Pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Sacred Sites in Tibet’ last summer for sure!

After our 2,5 day kora around Mount Kailash with little sightings of her, she suddenly appeared to us as we were leaving Darchen, greeting us with her majestic splendor. We were all in awe of her beauty.

Our ‘Pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Sacred Sites in Tibet’ is on ✨✨

Yesterday on Chokur Duchen we visited Shechen Monastery, founded by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche in the early 1980’ies, and contemplated the Four Noble Truths, the Buddha’s first teachings, in Rinpoche’s meditation room.

Tomorrow we are off to Lhasa 🌈✈️

Sikkim, often referred to as a hidden land, offers an environment that nurtures the innate goodness within all living beings, including humanity. This region has been blessed by great sages for centuries, and its people have faithfully upheld the teachings of the Buddha. Our journey is designed to explore the rich landscape of Himalayan Buddhism, blending the reverence of pilgrimage with the modern comforts sought by contemporary adventurers. Starting from Nepal, traversing the Indian Darjeeling district, and culminating in the heart of Sikkim before returning to Nepal, this journey promises a harmonious blend of spiritual immersion and scenic exploration. We eagerly anticipate traveling alongside you.

Dear friends,
We are excited to share a new Himalayan Hermitage Textiles account called dedicated primarily to our textiles and all of the news and storytelling associated with them.

For some time now we have wanted to focus more on our ‘Journeys’ and the ‘Textiles’ respectively and individually, giving each one of them more space to move and breath. So voila :)
We hope you will follow us on both accounts!
Much love from us at Himalayan Hermitage

Happy Losar ✨ The New Year, celebrated in Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal and in communities across the Himalayas.
It’s a time of purifying the defilements and negativities gathered in the year that passed, and a time to remove obstacles and create positive conditions for the year to come.

This photo was taken at a nomad camp last summer, during our ‘Pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Sacred Sites in Tibet, somewhere out west on the Tibetan plateau.
