We start hiking for about 3-4 hours inside the rainforest and arrive at Hut 1 (1,830 m). This is one of the largest huts and a spring provides fresh drinking water thus permitting you to cross hectares of sugar cane plantation. We shall have a brief rest at Hut 1 while having our lunch. Start off and hike for 4-5 hours through the savannah to Hut 2 (2,780 m altitude). From Hut 1 to Hut 2, the trail grows challenging. We shall camp at this hut for our first night up Mount Cameroon.

We shall continue till we get to the summit (4,095 m). We shall linger a bit at the summit to celebrate and take photographs. Afterwards we shall descend on a different trail for a gentle 6 hour walk through savannah and the old and new craters until we arrive at Mann’s spring (2,260 m). Here we will find a spring with fresh water to cool down in and make our camp for the second night.

The site has a great cultural, historic and touristic importance to many Americans who have traced their origins to Cameroon. Since 2010, nearly 150 Americans have traveled to Bimbia, giving the site increased national and international attention. There are some historical attractions still present in Bimbia today.
