ic tourism has already begun in China and has crested here in Chengdu. It is still gaining speed and momentum and is moving westward - toward the land of a million mountains, toward Shangri-La, toward Lhasa, toward Everest, Kailash, and beyond. There are many tours to Tibet, even through well-known, expensive western tour companies, but these companies outsource your tour package to local ground operators (cheap Chinese travel companies that may not be able to meet all of your needs in a language and culture that is familiar to you). Extravagant Yak Travel Company does not outsource tours. As English-speaking foreigners in China who also speak Mandarin and Tibetan, we can provide the best, the most understandable, and the most comfortable experiences in vastly different cultural contexts. Many locally run travel companies that would otherwise run your tour package for the big guys often have their own interests and the interests of their tour guides and other local companies in mind. Extravagant Yak exists to represent the interests of our clients first. You can truly relax and feel taken care of while you sit as a guest in a Tibetan home, as you are empowered to engage and interact with your host culture, and as you support good locally run businesses, giving the little guys a chance.
