One small but famous piece of Dazu, Chongqing, Buddhism Grottoes – “Cat and Rat”. Cat chased the rat onto the bamboo. Cat is obsessed to eat the rat. Rat is obsessed to escape. They are all suffering from their obsession but cannot be free. Same ideology can be applied to human. Think out of your own being, see the whole world in an objective way, we will gain free from samsara bitterness.

Compassion Bodhisattva, Avalokitesvara, is empowered by his supervisor Amitabha Buddha with one thousand hands and eleven heads to rich out helping suffering people in mortal world. At Dazu, various forms of this Bodhisattva is illustrated by stone carving.

Compassion Bodhisattva, not only could be able to embrace all human suffering and express empathy, but also is willing to accommodate all the misunderstanding, anger, disappointment, sadness from mortals towards him which came along.

Hongyadong locates at Hongya gate, which is the closed gate within the 9 open 8 closed city fortress gates. Hongyadong was listed as one of the 12 scenes in old times, named Hongyadicui. Hongya cave on Hongya cliff, 30 meters in height. The Cave can accommodate a few hundred people, with three character "Hongyadong" carved over the cave. Water from the upper city formes into stream, comes out of the cave as waterall, and joins river.
