Big drops, rapid after rapid—but the rhythm is perfectly forgiving, with nice flat sections after most rapids, making rescue a breeze. Both banks are basically wilderness—no road access, which is a huge hassle, but the scenery is absolutely jaw-dropping. Honestly, one of the top-tier creek runs we've ever experienced. That said: beginners, stay away. This is NOT your playground.

Guess her basic skills still need some work. If she wants to tackle harder runs, she's gotta put in the grind.
Meanwhile, Dan Bai, who flew all the way from Chengdu, was absolutely blown away: "This is the most fun creek I've ever paddled! My plane ticket was totally worth it."

Sure, the distance is a tad shorter, but the drops are bigger, and the rapids come at you in quick, concentrated bursts. We know this route like the back of our hand—but lucky us, it had just rained, so a dreamy mist rolled in, adding a sprinkle of romance and mystery. https://youtu.be/_zu0igbnkG4 This batch of newbies? Absolute legends. We've got a couple from Beijing and a little dude from Yiwu. Day one? Let's just say… coordination was optional. Lots of wobbles, paddles going everywhere, the usual chaos. But day two? They casually crushed a 10+ km run. Turns out, Huyuan Creek is at its most beginner-friendly time of the year—enough water for a good long float, but not so much that you panic. Plenty of time to figure out which end of the paddle is which.

The day before, Sara took the American crew down this same stretch, and they loved it. So we were like, "Why not do it again?" And we did. Pure whitewater stoke.

Every single frame of this video screams spring joy. I couldn't bring myself to delete a single second… so yeah, it's a long one. Sorry not sorry.

May Day plans: We're heading to Jingning Creek and Taishun Shoutai Creek—two of the top whitewater runs in Zhejiang and Fujian. We'll start with the basics, then hit the real deal. Wanna join? Come get some!

https://youtu.be/sk-WwZxB6k0 Saturday Fun Day! Three American exchange students from Fudan came to try whitewater for the first time. I was busy teaching the newbies the basics, so I sent Xiao Bao and Shuangshuang to take them down the river. Perfect timing—spring water levels were up, so the Class I-II rapids were just the right kind of fun. Those guys had an absolute blast—like, "forget to go home" level of fun.
Right now, Huyuan Creek is at its prettiest of the year. Come join us—enjoy the whitewater, enjoy kayaking, and enjoy pushing past your own limits!

https://youtu.be/LsZKAfL5Xlk It was raining cats and dogs around Qingming Festival—but guess what? We totally lucked out. By the time we rolled into Jingning, the downpour had just called it quits. The river was still pumped up and roaring, though. Water temp? 18°C. Air temp? 22°C. Perfect for throwing on a wetsuit and jumping in.
Our newbies went from total noobs to fearless rookies to full-on whitewater chasers—smooth and fast, like they were born for it. No awkward pauses, just non-stop progression.
This is them hitting Maoyang Big Rapids, absolutely loving life. Both were grinning ear to ear.
Whitewater training continues this week, but we’re moving the action to our Hangzhou base. Wanna feel the rush? Come join us. Let’s get stoked on some rapids together!

https://youtu.be/7HOm2rnP1Bw Feb.20 First official day taking my teammate on the Jinsha River drift. Found a surf spot—not exactly glassy smooth, but you could get a ride. The main issue? My fitness totally betrayed me. Paddling into the wave zone took every ounce of my sorry strength, and by the time I got there, I had zero control left. Managed to stay on for like two seconds before the river just yeeted me out. Bummer is, my teammate's boat-handling skills aren't quite there yet, so we couldn't take turns surfing and give me a breather. Oh well. Keep grinding! Hope we have way more fun tomorrow. 🚣‍♂️💨

We kept the distance short and the waves small, just to help her get used to going hard at 2,000 meters of altitude, feel out a big, powerful river like this, and figure out some technique tweaks for handling major currents.
Spoiler: her heart rate went through the roof, her arms and legs turned to jelly, and she was gasping like a fish out of water. Plus, her paddle-and-boat control showed some rookie gaps — plenty to work on. We went through the video in the afternoon and pointed out all the fun stuff to improve.
But lucky her: not a single flip. One time, zero flips. 👏
Fingers crossed she crushes tomorrow's 20km long drift and keeps getting better!
