From the banks of the Yangtze River to the Mississippi, Nanjing and St. Louis have been connected for decades. 🤝 In 1979, the two cities became the first sister-city pair between China and the U.S., marking the beginning of a lasting friendship shaped by shared river cultures, similar climates, and vibrant communities. Over the years, this bond has grown through meaningful exchanges in trade, education, culture, and healthcare. To celebrate 40 years of friendship, Nanjing gifted St. Louis a pair of elegant Ming-style bronze chairs, while St. Louis sent a seven-foot baseball player statue, which is now proudly displayed in Nanjing's International Friendship Park. ⚾️
