Peninsula Outdoor School is an outdoor skills course provider based in Shenzhen, China. Our educational programs are based on tangible outcomes; it is our objective to give each of our participants real training and experience in practical outdoor skills: backpacking, kayaking, wilderness living and campcraft. Our curriculum is built on the belief that theoretical knowledge is of limited value if
not complimented by the ability to perform skills well. We seek to turn our students into capable and conscientious adventurers. To this end, our courses are designed to be hands-on and thorough, requiring student buy-in and willingness to expand abilities and aptitudes. Peninsula Outdoor School’s program model is based on three core elements: effective curriculum, skilled instructors, and experiential learning. Our curriculum is designed to assist students in understanding the importance of informed adventuring; topics like risk assessment, terrain management and group dynamics are taught in conjunction with backpacking and kayaking skills. Our curriculum sources are the best available and are continually revised to reflect the best practices in the industry. Peninsula’s instructors are hand-picked for their hard- and soft-skills set. We understand that the most capable backpacker does not translate into the most capable backpacking instructor without the educational insight and sensitivity to help a group reach its course outcomes. We recruit and train outdoor educators that are well-traveled, well-read, experienced and passionate about what they do. Our teaching staff are an integral part of delivering courses that are safe, fun, and successful. Theoretical knowledge is of little use if not put into real practice, specifically in hard skills like backpacking and kayaking. Our courses are designed to give students the time they need in the field to leave confident about their abilities as wilderness travelers. Workshops and practical sessions are intended to help students of all a skill levels to advance their abilities and to gain the confidence that comes with being able to do something well.
