On 9th June 1951, the original Cathay building, which previously occupied the infamous restaurant and teahouse, became the Jin Jiang Hotel and was the first state guest house after the founding of new China, and has since entertained over 500 heads of states and government leaders and witnessed numerous historical events. As time passed, a collection of hotels started joining the Jin Jiang family, which continues to grow and flourish.
