Yesterday, Shanghai WEYUAN Medical Device Co., Ltd. completed an ISO 9001 quality management system inspection.

A New Milestone for WEYUAN Medical: ISO 13485 Audit Successfully Passed

Last week marked an important milestone for WEYUAN Medical (Shanghai Weyuan Medical Device Co., Ltd.).

Our team completed the ISO 13485 quality management system audit and successfully passed the assessment.

For a medical device manufacturer, ISO 13485 is more than a certificate on the wall. It represents a systematic approach to quality management throughout the medical device lifecycle — from product development and supplier control to manufacturing, inspection, documentation and continuous improvement.

During the audit, our quality management system, production processes and related documentation were reviewed on site. For our team, the process was not only an assessment, but also an opportunity to examine our daily work from a more rigorous perspective.

As a manufacturer focused on operating room equipment and systems, including surgical lights, operating tables, medical pendant systems and integrated operating room solutions, we understand that customers are not simply choosing a product. Hospitals, distributors and project partners also need confidence in the manufacturing system behind that product.

Passing this ISO 13485 audit is therefore an important step in the continued development of WEYUAN Medical and our international business.

🏥 ICU Planning Should Start with Workflow — Not an Equipment List

When planning an ICU, it’s easy to begin with equipment:

Patient monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, medical gas outlets, power sockets, ICU pendants…

But we believe there is a more important question to ask first:

How will doctors and nurses actually work around the patient?

At an ICU bedside, multiple activities happen at the same time. Nurses need easy access to infusion pumps and monitors. Doctors need clear access to the patient. Ventilators and other life-support equipment need reliable medical gas and power connections. Cables and pipelines must stay organized without limiting movement or emergency access.

That’s why ICU planning is about much more than choosing equipment.

Medical gas outlets, power sockets, data connections and equipment positioning should all be planned around the real bedside workflow.

The same applies to ICU pendants and bridge systems.

More outlets, longer arms or higher loading capacity do not automatically mean a better solution. A good configuration should make clinical work easier — not occupy valuable bedside space or restrict access to the patient.

Room layout, bed position, ceiling height, structural conditions, pipelines and surrounding equipment also need to be considered.

A medical pendant may have excellent load capacity and a long arm reach. But in a real operating room, there is another question that matters just as much:

How does it move when it is fully loaded?

Once monitors, infusion pumps, shelves, cables and medical gas hoses are installed, nurses and OR staff still need to reposition the entire workstation around the patient.

If the pendant requires too much force to move, daily operation becomes harder. If it moves easily but drifts after positioning, that creates another problem.

A good medical pendant or surgical pendant needs to balance three things: load capacity, smooth movement and positioning stability.

Different pendant systems may use damping, pneumatic or electromagnetic braking. The important question is not which braking technology sounds more advanced, but whether it matches the actual equipment load and operating room workflow.

But what about the costs that appear over the next 5, 8, or even 10 years?
