It was announced last month that the Badaling section of the Great Wall - probably the most popular section due to its easy access from Beijing - will cap the number of visitors at 65,000 a day. Book your ticket online through the official website (ticket.badaling.cn) or be adventurous and explore the less known (and less crowded!) sections of the wall.

Jianshui County - Yunnan province
Jianshui Old City Train(建水古城小火车) is the name of a tourist train that uses a section of the Gebishi railway, which had been in business for over 90 years before retiring in 2010.
Hop into the retro looking carriage and travel through time while nibbling on the snack that is handed out to every passenger. Be sure to have your camera ready when the train stops at the Double Dragon Bridge (双龙桥).

Two round trips per day (leaving 9:00 and 14:30 from Lin'an station), with one round trip taking a little less than 5 hours.
Access: Lin'an station can be reached from Kunming within 4 hours by either train or bus
