If you’re into history, don’t stop at Beijing and Xi’an.
Go a little further north and you’ll find Datong, a city where Buddhist art, ancient temples and imperial history are still part of the landscape.

Walk through the Yungang Grottoes and you’re looking at thousands of statues carved into the cliffs more than 1,500 years ago.
