What nobody tells you about traveling through Colombia is that whatever you imagined before arriving is probably wrong… but in a good way.
People talk to you like they already know you, music spills out of bars and streets at all hours, and somehow you’re eating fruit you didn’t even know existed two days ago.
One moment you’re in spring-like weather, the next you’re in the mountains wondering why you didn’t bring a jacket, and later you’re somewhere completely different questioning all your packing decisions.
The food also has a habit of surprising you. You come in with low expectations and suddenly start planning your next meal while still eating the current one.
And time… let’s just say schedules in Colombia are more like friendly suggestions. Things happen. Just not always when they said they would.
Salento is a also good example of how expectations shift. It gets most of the attention in the Coffee Region, but it’s really just one small part of it. Step outside the main town and suddenly it’s quieter, more rural, and the rhythm changes completely.
This is what our blog “What Nobody Tells You About Traveling Through Colombia” is really about.
At Lulo Colombia Travel, we help you plan trips that make sense once you’re actually here, not just on a map or a Pinterest board.
So yes, come with plans. Just don’t expect them to stay in charge.
