A GIANTA in Afro tourism , through his company , Alex leads Black history tours and cultural experiences that bring Cartagena’s rich Afro-Colombian heritage to life, while ensuring the surrounding Black communities receive the exposure, opportunities, and resources they need to thrive.

From Cartagena to San Basilio de Palenque and back to his hometown of Rocha, Alex shows up for his people and shows what it looks like when tourism meets group economics. Not only does he lead by example, but he’s also built tourism schools to empower others to follow in his footsteps.

A man who taught himself English so he could share the stories often left untold, Alex embodies what the future of tourism looks like authentic, inclusive, and community-driven.

An inspiration to many, it is our honor to welcome Alex Rocha to Black Travel Summit, Rio!
