ℹ️ The vast majority of visitors we welcome to Colombia 🇨🇴 come for the first time, and many also don’t speak fluent Spanish either. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy your holiday to the fullest and where possible 👌🏻, we always recommend travelling with a Tour Leader - a fully trained, bilingual tour guide who accompanies the whole trip and can take care of all the logistics, as well as give genuine local knowledge throughout your stay 🔝 . One of The Colombian Project’s top Tour Guides is Viviana Castro, from Bogotá, who told us,

💡 Did you know? Holy Week in Popayán, Colombia 🇨🇴 , is one of the oldest and most iconic in Latin America that has over 400 years of tradition! 🔝 It was even declared by UNESCO as having ‘intangible cultural heritage’ which includes:
• Daily processions with centuries-old statues, carried and led by local ‘cargueros’, which is seen as a generational honour for the family.
• The city turning silent and solemn—no cars, just candles and sacred music
• There’s even a mini version for kids: Semana Santa Chiquita

✨ It’s a unique mix of faith, art, and tradition in Colombia’s “White City.”

Our Story

The Colombian Project is a tour operator that specialises in various nature, adventure and cultural niches, such as cultural discovery, birdwatching, wildlife watching, history and archaeology, cycling and high-mountain trekking amongst others.

We define ourselves as a project given that we’re not a normal travel company in the sense that we have a clear aim which is to deliver sustainable development to Colombia through exclusive and unforgettable experiences which break down barriers each time.

We build relationships with local people and communities and look to invest in Colombia and Colombians wherever we can. Whilst we’re not an NGO, we like to think we have the same outlook in ensuring that our value chain is very well looked after and aided wherever possible, as they are what makes our trips so special, not us. It’s Colombia’s time now and we just want to spread the word, show its beauty and help people fall in love with it, just as we did all those years ago.
