Day 19/30. Field memories challenge.
* Endemic subspecies* Emerald Tucanet, Aulacorhynchus albivitta (lautus ), Tucancito esmeralda. This beautiful Toucanet inhabits from mid to high elevation Forest of La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Here, in this 2014 footage, you can clearly see the distinctive yellow stripe along the upper Ridge of it’s biil, a key identification feature.

Day 18/30 Field memories challenge.
🇨🇴*Endemic* and iconic! Santa Marta Woodstar, Chaetocercus astreans, Rumbito de Santa Marta. The flight of this Tony hummingbird is as elegant and unique as it’s habitat, restricted to the extraordinary montane cloud forest ecosystems of La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Here, we spotted it feeding on it’s favorite mermelade bush flower!

Day 17/30 . Field memories challenge. 2013 footage.
*Rare* Solitary eagle, Buteogallus solitarius, Aguila solitaria. This is a very interesting field recording of this impressive raptor! It’s excepcionally scarce and threatened and depends of the cloudy forest ecosystems. This time I spot this individual while driving up to San Lorenzo Ridge during a Birding transfer, I stopped my vehicle so my group could photograph it. A memorable sighting!

Day 16/30. Field memories challenge. Another Endemic hummingbird, this time a high elevation jewel that inhabits the unique cloud forests of San Lorenzo Ridge . The spectacular White-tailed Starfrontlet is one of the key target species of this important birding hotspot!

Day 14/30. Field memories challenge . 🇨🇴Endemic & critically endangered . Sapphire-bellied Hummingbird, Chrysuronia Lilliae, Colibrí Manguero. This is one of the most difficult hummingbirds to spot in Northern Colombia! This 2014 footage was taken during one of my personal explorations in the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta, a fascinaron destination for mangrove Birding!

🦉Black-and-white Owl, Ciccaba nigrolineata, Búho Carinegro.
One of the owls I love to spot around Minca, napping on it’s favorite perch. Actually he send the most of the day asleep, saving it’s energy for the night, when he becomes a true predator.🌿💤

Day 13/30. Field memories challenge. 2017 footage.
🇨🇴Endemic! Santa Marta Antpitta, Grallaria bangsi, Tororoi de Santa Marta.
To spot this shy endemic bird, you have to crouch Down to the ground. It is one of the most Southern-after species in the Highlands of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. It inhabits in the dense undergrowth of the cloud forest, searching for worms and insects to feed on. Here we found it very hidden in one of my favorite spot for this special bird! 🙌
