Antbird Tours offers high quality birding trips to Panama. Come experience the rich avian diversity of the tropics. Join me for my next trip!

I have been leading custom birding trips to Panama for years. I take my clients to the central lowlands and western highlands for some of the best birding on earth. Panama is a very special place and every individual that accompanies me on my trips leaves with a sense of awe and VERY large species list. I am a professional ornithologist and my tours are structured so that they combine a traditional tropical birding tour with lessons in the natural and evolutionary history of birds and their habitats.

Abnormally hot day in Southeastern Arizona today. With temperatures over 100 degrees, the Gambel's Quail were still active, but gular fluttering in order to stay cool (a specialized cooling behavior involving the vibration of the throat pouch to accelerate evaporation and lower heat load).

Today marks the 6-year anniversary of the day I finally observed a Rufous-vented Ground Cuckoo at an army ant swarm in the lowland rainforests of Panama. After searching for the species for a decade, this was one of the best birding experiences of my life. Come find one with me! We have a few spots left on our September tour to Panama!
